Latest movies have Audio protection. so when burning them to disk, if it detects a certain audio pattern it stops working if that makes any sense. technically it is illegal, unless obviously its home movies, compressed into xvid avi format to save space, obviously ;)

Most DVD players actually play AVI and XVID now. I'd say 95% of them do.

You could literally right click the movie, and choose send to disc or burn to disc depending on your operating system. Job Done :D

unless its cinema releases it should be ok.

there is a program called dvdshrink, which just rips a movie, then you write it to disc as a normal DVD and i works everytime. I dont use it, had a friend who did a couple of years ago. to be honest, dvd's so cheap now, no point copying them.

We had collection of over 400 BluRays at Christmas 2010, just had homepage as blurays on ebay, ending soonest first, go loads for pennies, literally less than a £ each. then sold he entire collection as a job lot for £1400 sounds cheap, less than £4 a movie, but cost us much less lol.

would the sound protection thing copy so far then cut out then

lol fair enough. I cant promote it, can say I know the legislation on that as I dont, was just trying to cover you back lol.

have a go at what I mentioned, see how it goes :D

It did when "someone" burnt yogi bear 3D for the misses to watch lol. She was well and truly annoyed, really into the film, and bam, it stopped. Turned out it was audio protection. Not audible to the human ear, but systems pick up on it. Companies are getting really aggressive against copying movies now.

Probably best discussing it on a private forum which relates to it, or using the example I mentioned in my first post, stating its home movies compressed to XVID. Just to cover your back mate. I cant preach, I used to do it years ago. but just be careful as anyone can view the forums.

Try fabdvd to take any encryption off the disc and dvdshrink will shink the film to suit a 4.7gb disc.

cheers ryan

will do+i thought that if you ownd the film then you could back them up

not anymore mate, not even allowed to lend it to Bob the neighbour, Sally your aunt or your mate Dave (legally) sad huh? So called Human Rights, non existant.
