Only when car is warmed up, level ground or slightly facing downhill. I have had pcv valves fitted but it still does it, if I bring the revs up a bit to say 1500rpm it stops smoking...

After I fitted new pcv's and replaced the 5 hoses it still smoked for a while, can take up to 500-odd miles apparently.mine still smokes now and again after cornering so im movimg the pcv outlets from the passenger side exhaust camcover to the top inside face of the inlet camcovers, this is to stop oil being drawn through the pcv's and into the plenum :).

The other cause with mine was p#ss thin castrol edge fully synthetic, oil had broken down after 1200 miles!!!....drained it and refilled with 10w40 semi synthetic and a new filter and it stopped smoking, and it was smoking pretty bad at idle beforehand as the weasel p#ss oil was drawing through the pcvs :(

The other possibility is turbo seals.......is your exhaust divorced or linked?, if its divorced doe it come out of one side more than the other or both the same?.

Mine smoked more on the drivers side exhaust, as the pcv pipe that goes to the side of the plenum that feeds the drivers side bank of cylinders is at the lowest point on the camcover and oil will pool at the lowest point.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying it is or isnt pcv related just giving you an idea other than the dreaded turbo seals. :)

Does it smoke any other time, say on decellaration or on boost?, or is it just on idle?.......another thing that can show up smoke you wouldnt normally notice is if the cats and precats have been removed.

Ah I see, is it a big job to move them?

Not too bad as long as the plenum is off as you have to drill and tap the inlet camcovers....if you check out my thread regarding my polished plenum I posted a link to another site that has got a 'how to' guide to movimg the pcv hoses.

sounds like turbos seals to me, just had the same problem, only smoked blue on idle, and when warm, blue smoke from 1 exhaust,

didn't smoke under any other circumstances, however symptoms are almost identical seals and PCV valves.

not really anyway of diagnosing the turbos, unless there is obviously oil in the compressor or exhaust housing, but even on inspection mine showed no signs of failure.

Run the heater on the car, this activates the ficd valve which raises the idle speed.if the smoke stops its a good sign yer tubs are passing oil. This usually works,it seems at idle the seals pass but at a slightly higher idle speed this seems to prevent oil passing.Ive known on numerous occasions this works.
