this may sound like a daft question but what is a speed convertor???

is this the thing that maks it read mph not kmp??

I have an import n/a and the speedo doesnt seem to work very well and i get a knocking sound behind the clocks...

    Yes. A speed converter will just make your speedo show MPH instead of KPH.
