Last year i did wrap bonnet of my bmw in carbon .. good for summer, but not in rain .. As for small parts (in my personal experience) - carbon film only good for parts you are not touching, everything else will peel quite quick

hmm not worth it when i can get parts made for just a little more.was thinking of interior parts and wheels.well looks like search for me black alloy wheels again, just a shame my chrome alloys didnt blister coz of 8 years stuck in and out me garage, anyone no where i can get a good price to rechrome the 4 wheels

Jay, Carbon Dipping is a piece of pi$$ mate, you can do it yourself - It wont peel.

As for carbon wrapping, depends what parts you want, as the wrap is textured, its a pain in the butt, unless you could get it laquered over and smoothed off, so it looks even more like real carbon, as it will be smooth and easy clean, but still have the 3d weave, as you would on real CF under the resin. (Not sure how the vinyl would react to the laquer though)

My only issue with carbon dipping is that the effect will be no better than what you could get from an everyday inkjet printer, printing on photopaper. I.e on our DS3 - The dash is carbon dipped, it doesnt look remotely real, but at the same time weighs nothing - because it doesnt look remotely real, doesnt look like its trying to be something its not (if that makes any sesne)

Anyway, I used to make real CF parts too, all honesty, for strength and weight nothing is going to beat it, but for decoration, I reckon the 3M carbon vinyl should be ok.
