Hi, im trying to replace the rear power steering pipes that come from the rear steering rack. Iv got the fuel tank of but its still difficult to see where they go!

They go between the body and rear sub frame. iirc You will need to remove the rear sub to get access to them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Why not take the oppertunity and go for a HICAS Lockout bar? No need to remove the sub frame for that and would be a doddle to fit since you already have the fuel tank out of the way.

Just refurbed my subframe and for the life of me cant remember whether the bolt holding the pipes to the top of the subframe comes out from the top or bottom. If its from the bottom then the job will be far easier. I don't think you will need to remove the subframe to get the pipes out but you may have to drop it down a bit, which is pretty easy really. If you look up the inside right hand side of the frame assembly you should be able to see a bracket with a couple of blocks attached, they are part of the pipes, one bolt holds them to the frame. Follow the flexible pipes forward of this and you will see 2 banjo bolts which have to be removed. Then its just the 2 connections on the rear ram.

Had my rear sub-frame out a little while back, the dreaded corroded brake lines.

By chance I did get a couple of pictures of part of the HICAS pipework if that helps.

The last pic shows the block that I mentioned, looks like it unbolts from the underside and that theres room to do the job without dropping the subframe. Hope I ain't wrong :)

Had a look today at mine, seems pretty straight forward.

If you look between the n/s drive shaft and the rear of the subframe you will see the pipe assembly mounting. An 11mm or 12mm socket iirc will unbolt it then its just a matter of the 2 banjo bolts above the front of the drive shaft and the two connections at the ram. By the look of it there's no need to drop the subframe.

Thats great thanks. I'll have a look at it tonight, that sounds a lot better than dropping the subframe.

Easy to remove when you know how! I removed it as the instructions above described it, only thing now is, its beyond repair, anyone got a decent set for sale?

Someone will have a decent set lying around, as a lot of owners have deleted the hicas systems. Failing that you could probably get a couple of flexi pipes made up.
