Just heard from my Nissan dealer, I need a new 'front crank seal', gonna cost me £225 fitted.

Ah well every cloud has a silver lining, I've been meaning to get an underdrive pulley for ages. Will the crankk pulley have to be removed to fit the seal, in that caser I suppose my new pulley will be installed for free?

Dunno Craig, probly about a tenner! the rest is labour

Will Nissan fit the crank pulley for you? I assumed they wouldn't be keen on fitting mods.

Dave,

The Crank pulley must be removed to get to the Front Mail seal as it is directly in front of it.

The Seal is an absolute Biiiatch to remove, the design is awefull and there is quiet a risk of damaging the crank if you get too excited about it.

If you get the Lightened Pulley then you will also need to change all the belts as they will now be shorter due to the smaller diameter of the pulley.

Firstly I would have thought Nissan would not do the job as it involves performance parts and the UD pulleys are one of the most contoverisal and problematic upgrades on the market.

Secondly havent you just had a 60K done ? I would have shouted lots at your service manager as the seal really shoud have be changed then to save the 225 labour of removing all the same shit that came off from the 60K. Im not sure if it is included on the 60K list in the service manual but it should be and you should have been made aware of it by a service manager worth a dam.

I think its Whuppass time down the Local Nissan Dave. Just get a few bevvies in before Hand :o)) LOL (just dont drive there :o) )

Just got back from the dealer, they have no problem with fitting the pulley (they dont mind mods as they also fitted my ACT clutch)

They also told me there wil be no extra labour charge, as they will have to remove the pulley anyway :o)

Looks like I've got a good excuse to have get this mod done (as if I need an excuse anyway!)- now wheres that niumber for SGP?

Nico, the belts were done just over 12 months ago, so I'll let them off as they reckon the leak has only started very recently, due to the small amount of oil spilled.
