Anyone able to recommend a top notch resprayer in the south west, who is reasonable on price, not cheap as I dont want a cheap job, but I dont want to be ripped of at the same time :P

any samples of work done would be appreciated too.

I would also like it to have a deep polish after paint, so it is totally smooth, with not even the slightest "orange peel" as seen on new cars, and resprayed cars.

Don't know any in that area but "orange peel" is a sign of poor painting technique (wrong pressure on sprayer etc) and if you find any then you can get them to fix it free. Never except orange peel as "one of those things"..

when I say orange peel, I mean really light dimples in the paint, only seen in certain lights.

Partners dads 2010 Focus RS has it, our 2011 DS3 has it, partners dads brothers 2012 Range Rover and 2011 Evo has it. As did his old F430 Scuderia which he sold and replaced with

mk2 Escort lmao.

Im just really fussy.

here is a sample of it on our old 2008 ST500:

Top of the door its really obvious, plastic side strips have no orange peel. But if you look at the reflection of the floor on the side, you can see what I mean, its not like a proper clear mirror reflection, as its not 100% smooth.

Yep, that's the orange peel I'm on about. If you pay a professional and get those results then he's not a very good painter and you will be entitled to have it fixed.

I had some on my paint job and phoned up the company to complain and as soon as I said orange peel I got an apology and they said that it will all be fixed as it should not have happened. Must admit I was expecting to have a fight on my hands but they accepted it straight away and sent the detailer round to have a look and book my car back in.

awesome. well that car wasnt sprayed, was about two weeks old when I took that pic :(

DS3 is the same, I complained whn I was collecting it, and was told its on every car. pi55ed me off seeing as the car cost nearly £18k and was a cash purchase

Hi Ryan,

Just following on from what Steams said, he is spot on in that orange peel is due to poor spraying by hand or machine. A good sprayer will leave no orange peel. Im into detailing cars, i do my own and friends cars, one has a 2008 audi tt and the bonnet had bad orange peel, the only way to get it flat was to wetsand it using 2000,2500,3000 then 4000 wet and dry, then polish out the sanding marks using a rotary polisher, wool pad and compound polish, then another go with a lighter polish and a polish pad then refine it with a finishing polish and finish pad, it took me nearly 2 days. The finish was like a mirror. My point is to correct orange peel is very time consuming and expensive to get a professional detailer to do it so i hope you find a good sprayer to do your car. Its worth researching a bit and hopefully you will get a nice finish on your pride and joy. All the best mate, hope this helps you a bit,

Kev
