Any advice on stripping out my interior?

Re-trims booked in for Monday, so i'm stripping all the panels out over the weekend. Is there anything I need to watch out for?

I've had the door cards off a few times before, but not sure if they split or not. other than that the only parts i've managed to take off has been the bits under the steering wheel. So as always any tips or advice would be great.

Regards

Steve

take your time would be my best advice. There are loads of hidden clips and screws. You tend to find that in order to get one piece off, another has to come off first.

I always find the small piece to the left of the glovebox is a pain

take radio panel off as there is 2 screws that need to come out at the bottom for the centre bits. 4 screws on piece under steering wheel. once those are off you will see the rest. Glove box has screws all over that area but you will see them you have to take the whole frame out iirc. 3 in centre console under the piece of carpet in there. As for the rear well long time since i done a LWB which i presume it is but fairly straight forward.

+1 on the glovebox piece, thats the only bit I found awkward.

Thanks guys, I'll be sure to keep my eyes out. It was the rear quarters i was worried about most, and the long centre bits, but now i'm a little worried over the glove box too.

Well I managed ok, took about 3 hours all in all so not as bad as expecting. the glove box was a ****, but its done, it'll probably take me twice as long to put back together but i'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. Thanks again for all your help guys.

did u get pics while removing for step by step guide?

or could you do it when reinstalling, so we can put i into reverse for a guide? :P

too late now, but when I was removing my interior for the trim, I took every screw / washer / whatever and sellotaped it to a piece of A4 and wrote next to it where it came from as I removed it. I kept one piece of A4 for each door, the centre console, the glovebox, etc. so I knew which bits belonged where when I put it all back together.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures today, I've been working on the thing since 8:00 this morning. changed the output shaft seal first thing (finally).

So I just wanted to get it over and done with and get home. (after a nice sprint about on the drive home of course). I'll see what I can do when I put it back together, probably won't be for another few weeks yet mind. If you are thinking about tackling it yourself, it really isn't too bad, a nice set of screw drivers and a 10mm and a 14mm spanner and a little bit of patients and you should be fine.

Yeah I figured out a similar system, I just got a few clippy bags and put the screws for each part in a separate bag, i.e, o/s door, n/s door, rear, glove box, centre and steering wheel. I didn't have a full compliment though, some most of been lost over the years.
