OMG, I dont know how to start this thread, Im just smiling ear to ear.

I got myself a fantastic Bargain imo.

I just bought a totally standard 300ZX Auto Twin Turbo.

The vehicle was purchased brand new by Mr Masayuki Iwamoto in Yokkaichi Japan in 1993 (although the vehicle was manfactured in October 1992)

Mr Masayuki Iwamoto moved to the UK in 1995 for an indefinate period as part of his work for the Japanese Equilivent of the Ministry of Defense. He has been based at The Royal Navy Air Support Base in Yeovilton since. Unfortunately he has to return to Japan in 2 months time, and has thus sold his home and is currently renting, and has also sold his beloved, 1 owner from new 300ZX - due to a quoted export back to Japan cost of just over £2,700.

The underside of the car has been stripped and resealed every 3 years since being in the UK, due to him being warned of the salt on the roads. The car has done 64,283 Kilometers since new, and was never converted to miles on import in 1995. It still reads Kilometers on the speedo, and apparently did not need changing for the MOT due to the age of the car when it was imported. The car is still limited to 180KPH, and the only modification is a turbo timer.

at 41,000 Miles the car had a full servie including all belts at a cost of £820, this was in 2005. The car has since done a further 23,000 miles with regular servicing every 6 months, despite not being used much over the 7 years since its full service.

There is no oil, wet patches, or stains in the engine bay, and is suprisingly clean under the bonnet for its age. The belts all feel very tight and have no squeals.

On startup, there was no need for throttle, and it sared immediately from cold, with very little smoke from the exhaust, which was totally cleared up within around 30 seconds.

With the ignition of, the boost gauge sat in the middle at 0, once started, it moved all the way to the left as far as it could, oil pressure was very low when idling (around 10-15 psi) but shot up when driving casually, to around 45psi, I didnt really think to check oil pressure under full boost, as I was too busy watching the road and the boost gauge - which almost went all the way to the right of the dial, but not quite. The car pulled like a train to be honest.

I did leave the car running about 20 minutes after the test drive, whilst speaking to Masayuki trying to listen out for any noises, smell anything or see any smoke, none of which appeared.

I wasnt sure how to test the gear box on an auto, but it felt VERY smooth, soon as I switched to overdrive, the revs dropped, as you would expect, and the power and hold features worked with no issues.

I never intedned to break any speed limits, and pulled onto a clear dual carriage way at about 30kph and put my foot down for what felt like 5 seconds, and the next thing I knew I was at around 130kph. as the road was clear, I slowed down to 80kph, quite quickly, there was no noise or wobble in the steering wheel, indicating discs and pads seemed upto scratch. The Tyres all look brand new, but are apparently just over 1 year old, and have covered almost 3000km.

The Tool kit is in the boot, complete and unused, as is the original Jack and spare wheel. The flare is in the passenger footwell. And the car still has the original ultra thick pile 300ZX Carpets, which again look new. the seats had cushions on them, which have apparently always been used - and it shows as there is no wear and tear to the seats.

There was no dents in the bodywork (at all) however, there is a few swirl marks in the paint, and peeling paint on the spoiler, and wing mirrors. The car is like a really deep cherry red. As the car is mechanically sound, I will next invest in a full body respray, in is original colour, bringing it up like new. I will also invest in 99 spec rear lights, and a later spec front bumper before I do the respray. I will definately have to strip the rear spoiler, and wing mirrors and respray them though.

Anyway, I bought the car today, and am due to collect it in a couple of weeks, when I have been paid (so I can pay the remaining balance)

Like I said, I am a very happy chappy :D - and officially a fellow Fairlady Z Owner.

A lot of people dont like the hicas but if its working right its a great piece of kit I love mine and the way it turns in on long sweeping corners at speed. It took a lot of money to put it there an more and more zeds are dumping it and some for the wrong reasons. Just my opinion:)

defo mate. Mines up the farm at the moment.

Defo want to respray it and get more subtle skirts fitted, 99 front end and lip, plus new rear fibreglass spoiler instead of the rubber one. it doesnt look too bad, im just a perfectionist.

Here is some pics I took today, weather a bit crap, but never mind. The floor its parked on is not a sludge pit lmao. its actually 100% flat concrete, just a bit of hay and dead grass all over it from the cows winter feed. will all be cleared up next week. space for 40+ cars there lmao.

Apparently the targa covers have never been removed, till today lmao. only took the drivers side one of to see if I preffered it with or without them in lol. Defo preffer them in. Not keen on open glass above my head. maybe the weather didnt help.

Very nice :thumbup1: even has the "don't stick your head out of the roof while driving" sticker

On a bad note you did get the slower of the two reds available  but you can't win them all

Wondered what that was all about lmao.

It has another sticker too, on the side of the glove box, on the fabric, all japanese writing though. no idea what it means. interior is mint. but I want to do a leather retrim, so might swap wih someone prior to getting trim done, would be a shame to see a mint set go to waste.

I noticed that, took it out, and had a looky lol. it says Nissan on it. So assume its the original.

Need to change headunit, as its a Japanese Pioneer one. Pioneer Carrozzeria or something like that lol. All I know is, I cant tune in to UK FM stations as its frequency is much lower :(

not a major thing, as I can still use CDs. But Im used to using USB. so a bit of a pain for now lol

Nice Car Rolandas, two of my fav colours on the zed, blue and white. I think red will be nicer after respray so it has really deep shine.

Thanks Gary.

Its not quite mint, bodywork lets it down. But its an easy fix. Not sure when JAE is, or where lmao.

I would like to make it mint, before going to any shows really. so it depends on how long I have. I am thinking full respray in next couple of months, also need new rear lights and center light as they have really intensive cracking in them. but is nothing major. just cosmetic. partners father was examining it earlier, said he was really impressed with its condition, and that it had been looked after really well. All hinges and locks are well greased. oil is really clean, and at correct levels, all the little things count, put it up on ramp and checked underside, no visible rust. will get it waxoyled once skirts are off though, before putting new ones on, and getting the respray.

very nice mate, if it was mine i would be inclined to keep her as original as possible as original ones are thin on the ground :)

That has been the idea mate. it will be resprayed original colour, I found stock wheels on here, but lost the guys number, need to find him again. Would like a new original bumper but its impossible, hence why I was looking at facelifts. but the phase 1 is really growing on me.

I dont like the parking assist aerials on the bumper and rear quarter, but its a factory option I think, maybe I should keep. the boot has the original tie straps and looks brand new, as does the rest of the carpets. plush matts could do with a once over, but again, all niggly things. the car is 20 years old, I bought it to restore it though as its already at a very good stage imo.

Very nice Ryan, its gleaming :) Not suprised you are so chuffed with it :)

Lmao. other red is only quicker because it fades away to pink, and thus weighs less lmao.

on this pic of Garys car, the black/ greyish strip on the bumper, where the lights are fitted....

The guy who had my car painted it body colour. Badly.

is the original sprayed or is it its natural colour? is it a seperate piece, or one piece part of the bumper?

Just wondering how im going to get it back to original, or if I will need to buy another bumper?

pic for last post lmao:

only using our car Gary as its a clear example of what I want.

Lose the skirts. Smooth all the stonechip. Ditch the parking mast. Respray in ah3. Re Furbed Jspec wheels. Job done.
