I have a rather bad oil leak, and was thinking of whipping the gearbox off today to find it (manual), I always change the spiggot bushing, but I haven't got one, will be putting the box back on tonight, is it necessary to change it? Its an oem, not nismo...

does it look ok ? if it does shouldnt be a problem

Not unless its damaged. Normally the spigot bush s changed when doing an auto to manual conversion, or clutch change as a peace of mind part.

 

Did your rear crank seal give up the ghost then?

No mate, did that about a year ago, it's coming from somewhere higher, from what I can see, it appears to be around the height of where the head meets the block, but it's quite a bad'n, I took some pics, I'll bung them up.... Gearbox needs to come off to inspect, nay probs really as I've got a lifter and trans jack etc...

It may be from the vvt seal at the bottom of the rocker and its dripping down, i take it you have cleaned the area to see if its more visible. I would have thought if it was from the head, you would be having more problems than an oil leak lol
