as above. vin or chassis code on JDM 300zx

What do you need to know from it?

As far as I know, the first few are the model number, and the next are just numbers. I don't think it's as thorough as the international VIN numbers.

The first 2/3 tell you where it was manufactured ie JN1- Japan

the model year plus there's three letters which have something to do with spec? not listed on uk or american vin / chassis listings.

if you want to know something in particular pm me your vin i have euro and jap FAST systems on my computer,

 

the uk ones have some sense to them,

JN10RGZ32U0000000

first 3 production region, next 3 engine/body type etc, then next 3 are model, then normally a U not sure what its for, then a unique number for the vehicle.whole vin is 17 digits long,

 

so jn1 - japan production model,

org - body type, engine, transmission

z32 - model

U- ???

0000000 - unique number

 

however if yours is an import the code makes less sense.

 

gcz3200000 etc...

 

not sure what gc means,

z32 model,

then unique number

 

 

maybe we could work it out, uk owners get the first 6 letters of their chassis and what spec you car is....

jap owners sorry we cant play... :(

i have it all decoded its only three letters i can't suss............JASHET -the HET is the part i'm struggling with ADL .

i think that's for an american vin.

 

mellowyellow, JASHET that's not the vin that's part of the model number i.e. heres mine KRGZ32JASHWE7

JDM chasis is 11 digits, somthing like GCZ32-000000, at that's the format all 3 of mine have been.

 

tbh not ever tried to work out what it meen as we only really use the chassis numbers.

 

if it helps, mine is a 04/91 TT LWB Auto in 732(black),

 

so the mine is HWE7, yours is HET ?

sorry ADL. my bad. i mentioned vin /chassis number. i have taken my info from the plate on the slam panel. so i really need to use the actual vin plate which is located on the bulk head?

Nissan FAST will decode JDM 300ZX 1989 TO 1999 as to my under standing, just ask for some one who has Nissan FAST software to help you.

Nissan FAST software gives you more inf than the Z32 Technical article does eg. DD/MM/YY & factory where the car was manufactored and every thing on the original assembley line order form.
