Brake pedal pulsates with 350z discs......help!

Evening folks, today I fitted 350z Track discs with caliper relocation brackets and 300zx calipers. The discs have been skimmed, but the brake pedal pulsates when braking and the car shakes if braking from any sort of speed. Can the discs being the wrong way round (check out the grooves in the photo, drivers side) cause this, or could it be a sticking caliper?.Braking was fine with old setup by the way.

Going to get a dial gauge on them tomorrow, just thought someone might have an idea if the discs are 'handed', left and right.

would say they are warped or not been skimmed true make sure the facia of the hub and rear of the disc is clean

as for the grooves direction its dosnt matter just will make a little more sound when hard braking

Years ago, I had a pair of very slightly warped discs skimmed, when they were refitted, the pulse changed to a violent shake at any speed above 10mph, discs were not skimmed straight and true. I'd check with gauge for confirmation, though you will possible see it with the eye if it's bad enough.

When you fit wheels on a z car tighten the wheel nuts with a torque wrench Nissan advice you to do this because of warping of the rotors can happen if not tightened to the correct ft/lbs torque. Check the rotor run out with a dial indicator if OK to specs. check the ABS braking system, pedal will pulse if tyers are braking traction!

I thought that the zed ABS was a silent type? i.e. you don't feel it through the pedal when its activated. Am I wrong then?

On the judder, I'm thinking warped disc too..

Once under heavy braking the left front wheel hit some oil on the road I felt a ABS pulse effect coming through peddle on my 300ZX and it just felt like a warped rotor.

Aah, maybe it's just less of a judder then. When the ABS kicked in on my vectra it would nearly brake your ankle

Wouldnt use anything other than a torque wrench :)

Checked the discs with a dti this morning and they were warped so got them reskimmed and they are now perfect.just got to do some steady miles now to bed the pads in.Also took the opportunity to repaint all the calipers so it all looks spot-on :)
