I recently posted a thread about my zed being swapped from auto to manual transmission before I bought it.

It was suggested that I need to earth pin 44 of the ecu to the neutral switch of the gearbox.

Can anyone confirm is it definately pin 44 and can I just snip the wire on the harness and earth out to the car body, or does it have to be the gearbox switch.

How do I find where the neutral switch is located on the gearbox and how do I attach.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks to all those who replied in my previous thread

It is pin44, but i wouldnt bother, i did connect mine when i did the manual conversion, but i dont like the revs going up slightly when im at a stand still and place it in gear.

Connecting the neutral switch advances the timing. Its the connector nearest the the prop at the rear of box

I didn't bother either, but if you are leaving it and not bothering with it, then you'll need to check your timing with a strobe, there's a how to in the FAQ section, and you'll want to set your timing to 25 degrees BTDC when fully warmed up, as it is normally 15 when in neutral, then advances to 25 when you put it in gear, if the neutral switch isn't connected it'll stay at 15 all the time as it will think it's always in neutral...

Go to aus300ZX.com/tech section your answer should be in there ,a lot of Z owners on this site have done this earthing the pin conversion or www,ttxtz.com/tech/lee/ECCS_colored_m.gif This will give you a colour code and pin out numbers from the ECU.

I've connected my neutral switch to pin 44, can't really report any issues with it though as the car is still off the road :(
