Call my office to book the friday - monday off at it turns out they are fully booked. I can feels some sort of sickness bug coming my way already.

So true. I agree 100% with what he said on Facebook. Its a 3 day event so i'm sure it wont hurt you M-F lot to book one day off instead of the the 2-3 days off I have to book to go there!

Don't be do damn selfish!

As you quite rightly say JAE is a three day event. But the whole idea of the event is to show cars. Why not move the fooball and other non car related activities to the Friday, and leave the Saturday for the true car enthusiasts that like to enter show and shine?

Because not all true car enthusiasts work Monday - Friday and have weekends off either, you can't please everyone.

Plus I'm not being abusive or personal I am fronting the other side of this light hearted discussion

I haven't said you are being abusive or personal, where did that come from?

I agree you can't always please everyone with these sort of things, but had a vote been taken from the various car clubs that attend JAE, surely that would have been a more democratic approach, and given everybody the chance to have a say in the matter rather than just thrust it on everyone like it has been. I realise that not all car enthiasts work Monday to Friday, but why do you think that the majority of car shows throughout the UK are held at weekends? Because that is when the majority of people can attend them. Had this come down to a vote, I would say that the majority would have said to leave show and shine on the Saturday.

Might I just add that I have nothing to gain from this discussion, I can attend whenever, but I don't enter show and shine, so it has no direct affect on me personally.

I'm sure the decision was not taken lightly to change the show and shine date, they can always change it back next year if it causes too much inconvienience but I cant see where the problem is personally. If show and shine is that important then book the Friday off innit. I don't email the WRU to ask them to change the Grand Slam date because I normally work weekends.... I either try book it off or I miss out

Exactly, they wouldn't move the Grand Slam for you and they hold that over a weekend, why? Because it is then that the majority can either attend or watch it, and that is what this discusson is getting at, why move the show and shine? I am sure there would be an outcry from people if they moved the Grand Slam, just like there is upset at JAE organisers moving show and shine. It is the fact that they have moved it that people are not happy with, why change something that has worked well for x amount of years? Like the Grand Slam, leave it the way it has always been.

You are missing the point that not everyone has every weekend off, I only got to he game because I managed to book it off. If I couldn't book it of I would miss it simple as that. I was in work for two of the five six nations games this year

What im trying to say is the world doesn't revolve around those who have weekends off, there will be some people who have reacted positively to the change of day because they can't make the Saturday....

I know not everyone has every weekend off, I have agreed with you on that point, so I am not missing it. However the majority of the population do, that is why most major events take place over weekends, and they try not to move these events because it would not be in the interest of the majority. As I said, why not move the none car related events to the Friday and leave the car releated events to the Saturday and Sunday? Don't foget that some people have no doubt booked the Saturday and Sunday off if they do work weekends, expecting the show and shine to be when it has always been, and may find it diffficult to book the extra day now.

As I said, it doesn't have an affect on me personally and yes there will have been people who have reacted positively to the change. But it is in my opinion that the majority won't, hence I think it would have been fairer to have had discussions with all the car clubs that attend, so that the members would have had the chance to have their views heard on each forum, then taken the decission to move the show and shine or not after said discussions, rather than just a number of people in a room making the decission for everyone else. And this is just my opinion, not trying to upset anyone or offend anyone at all.

I think John understands this better than any one and the reasons he gave on Facebook do justify it, this thread was for people attending not a place for discussion of what's changed and if we like it, not every one agrees but it's obvious the majority do, the 300 is only being represented by one car at pressent so I see no reason why we are even having this discussion, after all we are not going to change johns mind on this, it got moved so more people could enjoy the week end, not only the show and shine entrants but also the rest of the people attending the event who will now get a chance to see the cars that won, considering the amount of people that leave on the Sunday at the first light of day John wanted to offer more incentive to get people there on the Friday and I for one welcome the change

Sorry, it's a forum, I thought that this type of discussion was what it is all about, obviousley I was wrong, but people do have different opinions from others and don't always see eye to eye and agree with every decission whether made by us on this site or organisers and other sites.

Just one point, how do we know there was only going to be one 300 enter the show and shine?

Cheers Gary. I am not one to cause any trouble or unrest at all, but thought it would have been nice for the various clubs and forums that attend JAE to have a voice and opinion about the move. It is still my opinion that if the majority had been asked, then show and shine would stay on the Saturday. Last thing I will say on the matter as it looks as though some don't want it mentioned. Rant over......lmao

Sorry that wasn't supposed to come across as a shitty comment by the way

Didn't come over as that shitty to me but if you thought it had maybe you should edit

"this thread was for people attending not a place for discussion of what's changed and if we like it"

What a lot of people do not know is when John and the organisation took over JAE in approx2003 because no one else would step up to the plate to do it he took out a loan on his house in 2005 ,as it had grown to big for Billing and needed another venue to keep it running and as such it is now run more on as professional venture and as he stated when he took over he will always welcome advise and ideas from the clubs before any final say on timings and structure of the event

With out John Fuggles stepping in JAE would have ceased to be 1n arround 2003

Whilst I still do not like the idea of the S&S on the Friday and the IMHO rather strange reasons owner wise not being able to anything else whilst their cars where in the S&S show arena I must admit that it would be nice to see the cars that had won prizes being displayed for all to view and identify is a good point relate to on the Saturday

way to take me out of context, i was on my phone fixing my car and my phone was having a eppy about typing out the message, if you wish to discuss this please make a new thread is what i was trying to get at, but by all means take it as me having a right swing of my hand bag. as i already said this thread was to gather numbers of people who will be attending this year, if you wish to discuss this make a new thread,at no point was i stopping you starting a new thread to discuss this matter on its own, i just wanted this thread so i could get an idea of the numbers going, now we have 2 extra pages dedicated solely to this Show and shine thing so others who wish to stick there name down will have to have a search through to find out where the list went.

Yes its a forum. i put the news in here, please feel free to make a new thread and move the relavent posts over, or can do it.

Are the club, or any of the members thinking of entering any of the non car activities? Such as football, tug of war, car pull , etc , or whatever is going on
