I've been wheel hunting for months now and have had several quotes. Its a difficult choice.

I had a quote for a set of 3 piece forged split rims from the states.

They said that if i opt for 8" fronts, they could build the wheels as 2 piece instead of 3. This would create a saving of £600 over the 3piece 9" fronts.

Your thoughts? 8" seems a little skinny, but £600 is a fair saving.

The wheels in question:

Only, with a brushed centre and chrome lip

well the price difference is due to them being 2 piece instead of 3 but 8 inch on the front would be ok as long as the offset is right and wouldnt need spacers to fill the arches this would still give a good lip on them

Yup, they are custom made so will fit perfectly.

8" is a tad skinny as you said. yeah £600 is a saving but would you be happy. your only going to do it once. If it was me i would go for the 9"

is it a total of £1200 you will be saving. If so i would just buy some other alloys

or go to image wheels in Birmingham gotta be better deal than getting them shipped for the US

only problem i foresee is if IF they are not right first time , offset or whatever then the shipping costs would soon make the wheels financialy unviable

Image wheels i have got are 3 piece front and rear with tyres ran me about 3 grand , BUT if i kerb one they will take it back and repair it easily and cheaply

buy cheaply buy twice , buy once buy right......

Saving would be £600 total.

My initial plan was to buy Image wheels but they no longer do a reverse lip. (flat lip)

I'm not too keen on the traditional shaped lip - it is a bit 'old school' for my tastes.

This pretty much rules out the UK - the wheel market over here is crap.

To get the style i want i dont think i have much option but to ship from the states.

Dave i think your probably right bud, i would need to go for the 9". Overall, they are still a decent price.

for the sake of a lip ....that in all honesty no one will notice it may just pay you to go with Image wheels mate ..but if you have your heart set on a flat reverse lip then your choices are limited unfortunatley

I think the lip is preety important and the revers flat lip makes a major difference:
