Clifford Alarms (False Alarms)

I'm sure there are a few people out there with Clifford Alarms, mine keeps causing false alarms for no apparent reason, and I don't want to turn it down any more.

Anyone else got/had the same problem?

I used to like the Cliffords but over the past few years I've heard nothing but bad stories about them. From installers to customers, Toad is better and cheaper along with some other decent brand names.

I wouldn't bother with a Clifford now personally.

It was on the car when I bought it, personally, the one I had in my 200 was very good, seem to get to many false alarms on my 300 though.

ive got a clifford on my car and the only problem ive had with mine has been with the door motor, but i think thats got more to do with the guy's that installed being a right bunch of muppets rather than the alarm.

Have you checked the diagnostics. The number of flashes tells you which sensor is the problem. I had a problem with my Clifford which was cured by the dealer turning down the sensitivity on one of the sensors. It has worked OK since then.

They have a lifetime guarantee.

Check the diagnostics. The number of flashes show which sensor caused the alarm.

On mine the dealer just adjusted the sensitivity on one sensor and it has been fine since.

i noticed with mine that if i leave my mobile in the car and it rings while the alarm is set then the alarm goes off.

so moblies interfere with ordinary telephones, radios, car alarms..... but they reckon they dont interfere with your brain?... YEAH, RIGHT!!!!!

On the subject of alarm systems what is the best one at the moment, price aside?. Does anyone know?. Ive also heard that TOAD are quite good as well.

On the subject of mobile phones, yes they do cook your brain, almost microwave freq. at the power they put out will raise brain temp. by 0.1deg. As you know energy is proportional to freq. so higher frequencies = higher powers (e=hxf)but also become more polarised. When you send that text msg hold the phone away from you at arms length!.

My Cliffords been fine except when the battery got flat and it lost its memory! Make sure you know the valet code and how to enter it - check it even cos one day your zapper battery or car battery will die and you wont get it started.

I had to find the valet code the hard way cos the one the last owner wrote down did not work.

I even turned up the sensitivity on the interior radar thingy inside the car and only recent false alarms were when a hailstorm fell on it and when my son bumps the mirror when walking past it. Wind does not set it off when left with "T" tops off.

nother thing, if it is the interior radar sensor see if you can find out where it is. Mines is in the edge of one rear window behind the trim. Maybes your trim is creaking with heating up and cooling down in the warm weather. If the senor feek#ls the creak it might see it as a tap on the glass etc. Also check for little spiders etc. These little blighters can take a walk over the sensor and trip it.

Willie

The thing behind the window trim is probably the antenna, the interior detector is usually under the centre consul. I usually stick them under the radio as any loose change or crap in the ash tray will set them off.

Best alarm on the market for reliability is the toad in my opinion. As far as security the alarm is only as good as it`s fitted!

You can make a Moss alarm as effective as the best alarm in the world if it`s fitted right.

The good thing with the Clifford ones is the wireless immobiliser that can be added, brobably their best feature.

Bob

Thanks for the advice, mine is under the radio, I'll clean out the centre ashtray and give it a go.

Weird!
