Limited to 125mph

Hi all,

I've just got my new TT (manual SWB NA still for sale) and I've a couple of questions.

The TT seems to be limited to around 125-130 mph. The speedos been converted to mph. I get a strange single chime when ever I stop the car as well (the headlight chime). Can anyone let me know what's going on?

Thanks,

Andy

Well you're supposed to be limited to 112mph (give or take a fraction), so I suspect that your 125 is due to speedo inaccuracies. Check it with a GPS (or a plod speed trap biggrin.gif LOL)

I'm deffinetly doing more than 112 when the limiter kicks in. Apparently someone tried to remove the limiter before but failed. The bloke I bought it from seems to think that this was what inroduced the chime at stop. Sren't the jap cars supposed to chime iver 60 MPH?

Cheers,

Andy

The limiting is done in the ECU maps on the EPROM, the easy way around it is to change the chip, or to put a speedo convertor on which changes kp/h to mph and hence moves the limit from 180km/h to 180mph.

It would be possible to modify the signal after the speedo, but that seems like hard work when you have to do the same stuff and yet leave the speedo in km/h.

If your speedo has a 110mph face, then someone has just stuck an aftermarket face over the 180km/h one. If you have a 180mph face then you will have a converter box and a small mph sticker over the km/h lettring on the face. If you have a 180mph face with km/h in smaller circle around the inside then you have a UK spec clock.

Hi Andy,

I have the UK spec clock by the sounds of it. If I buy a chip to delimit the car totally can Nissan dealers fit it do you think?

Cheers,

Andy

No way will you get a Nissan dealer to fit it. You'll need to get somewhere like a TV or computer repair place to solder a socket in the ECU board. Most places that sell the chips will arrange for this.
