Apex'i AVC-R - ??

Hi All,

Can someone with AVC-R experience tell me if it's possible to change the display units?? - i.e. mine reads Km/h where it should be mph - the reading is mph just the units that ain't.

Also what's the score with this boost pressure/duty cycle thing?? Is the boost the maximum boost and the duty cycle a percentage thereof...??

TIA!!

That's entirely possible... I have a Jap 300km/h speedo that's now reading mph (i.e a 300mph speedo) Never mind, just wondered if it was a setting that could be changed.

Cheers anyway..

Hi Rob,

I asked that a while back and was told it couldn't be changed. Mines a UK car, so I don't think it's anything to do with a speedo conversion. If you find a way, can you let me know.

Cheers

Not 100% sure . . . . but . . . .

Pressure is true boost pressure.

Duty cycle is the signal to the wastegate solenoid indicating how much over-ride is needed to get the boost pressure you're seeing.

hi rob,

Iam currently thinking about getting a boost controller and was very intrested in the AVC-R, seeing as you have one could you answer some queries i have about it.

1. where did you get your AVC-R from?

2. was it more difficult to fit and set up than other boost controllers eg, HKS or Blitz?

3. ive heard that AVC-r are very complicated to use is this so?

cheers

The AVC-R does the job well, but it's not built to well, some components are cheap. If I bought one again, I'd get another make. I've heard of a few failing screens, I think craig had one. Seen many problems due to the pressure sensor letting in water too easy (inc mine) and one case where the cheap plastic filter in the air line broke. I belive the supra forum was trying a to get a group refund on broken screens sometime last year.

Hi Jez

thanks for the information, ill be getting my avr-c soon. if there is a fault is it possible to get it repaired without sending it back japan? confused.gif

craig how did you get yours repaired?

cheers

Make sure you mount the pressure sensor away from the engine and major heat sources, like on the firewall top driver side. But on the firewall it's easy to get water on it when you wash the car with a hose (Or when you leave the car at garage and they power wash it, like what happened to me!!!). Water gets in the top rim and maybe where the screw is. Fill it with some kind of sealant. I used some old rubber gaskett compound. Also, I would advice mounting the regulator somewhere around where the orginal air-filter box was (I assume you've removed yours?). I have heard they can be a bit noisy sometimes, mine is okay.

Also don't route the piping through the old stock actuators, disconnect them (and plug if possible).

Jez.
