What is the best way to remove this ?

You can raise the limit from 180kmh to 180mph using a convertor or you can chip it and eliminate the limit altogether.

As Andy says, the convertor kit is under £100 but for a little more you can get it chipped and not only get the car de-limited but also get the tuning re-mapped so more power out of the std engine. A few people on here have had more than one ECU replacement so someone may have a SE or JWT ECU going spare?

Oh yeah and if you do get it chipped go for one that is reprogrammable not just off the shelf in case you want to start modifying.

I got a JWT ECU from Stillen in the US, however I wouldn't do that again. I would go for either an SE upgrade ECU (if that is re-programmable) or the Unichip which I have heard could be good, there may even be other ones which are as good? Others on here will probably have more to say about these.

Seeing as I am at the bottom of the food chain (NA owner), I was avoiding an ECU upgrade as I would not get much benefit from it and I am trying to keep the car as standard as poss. I was told that if I chnaged the ECU I would have to change the speedo too ? Also, I don't want to be rebuilding it every 100 miles...Every 200 is acceptable within the Zedworld.

Ah, in that case then I think your favoured option would be a convertor box that will make your speedo read up to 180mph and raise the limiter from 180km/h to 180mph.

I have a spare already converted speedo (subtle mph label over the km/h letters) and a convertor that is no longer required. I could probably even be convinced to fit it for you if you bring the car to my place in Essex.

AndyP - I am in Kent so Essex is not a problem at all. Could you please drop me a line ASAP and let me know what renumeration you require and if I should bring my own lubricant for it !!!

Only lubricant required here is fully synth for the car and Guinness for me ! biggrin.gif

I know I'm being dumb but exactly what do they do with imports? Do they totally de-limit the car or re-limit at 155mph and how would I find out without a trail of blue flashing lights!!??

Typically they put in a conversion box that raises the limit from 180km/h to 180mph.
