1st gear auto box prob.

Been doing some 0-60mph tests with my AP-22 g-meter. Anyway, I have been trying different permutations with the auto box, OD - on, OD - off etc.etc.

Problem is I tried to put the box into 1st gear and floor it but it would not allow me to select it. I can shift it into second ok but for some reason am unable to get the first gear.

Anyone here had the same problem and what did you do about it?.

I know you have to push the button on the side of the gear lever to get it into first (you don't need to for 2nd). Maybe there's some sort of lock on it.

I'm not sure if there's any speed related lock on it. Faulty speed sensor maybe?

Just out of curiousity, what sort of 0-60 times are you getting anyway?

The 0-60mph times were rather embarrasing so I'll leave that to later. I wasn't calculating enough (made a silly mistake of having a boot-fool of heavy tools and left the a/c switched on!, doh!), I performed the tests on a hot day in the new forest. Road surfaces aren't that great there but its pretty much the only place one can go for some peace and quiet or having some BMW to55er trying to run you off the road!.

Next time I'll empty the car out of everything and do it first thing in the morning or wait until the fall season. The g-meter also requires better setting up of drag factor and rolling resistance co-effs calculated etc.
