Leaking pipes!!

Hi all

i have a small/medium oil leak under my car had a quick look today after work and it seems to be coming from a small dia pipe just back from the bottom of the rad [there are 2 pipes running from left to right]underneath a large bracket that seems to be attatched to these pipes!! the car is a uk auto any hints to repair/replace and what are these pipes for.

Ithink they are oil cooler pipes!! [but maybe wrong i am a heating engineer!!]

oh by the way the oil is not engine but transmission oil

cheers

Dave

There are sections in the main rad which act as oil coolers for the auto box. It seems likely that one of the pipes linking the box to the rad is leaking.

Hi Dave,

AndyP is right, I experienced something similar to your problem. Had taken the car to Nelson to fit a new rad and the tossers "forgot" to tighten up the clips that hold the transmission pipes to the rad. They're a bugger to get to (had to remove the fan cowling and even then it took me hours to sort). I'd start by looking at these clips and make sure they're nice and tight. Not sure if it's the same on a UK spec Z but on my Jap-spec Z the two pipes were directly under the rad cap side of the rad.

Good luck - hope this helps.

Could be the dreaded PS hose that one. If it is you are looking at ยฃ150 just for the part - although you may be able to get it repaired wink.gif
