how the bloody hell do i find the right paint for my car????

as abovereally, i went into halfrauds a few months back and with the paint code they sold me a rattle can of black. but it was pretty far off when i sprayed a test patch. any ideas where i can get the right colour? cheers

If its metallic black pearl, the code is 732. The car is 20 years old, may have been patched, reprinted a couple of times, colours fade etc. get the paint matched rather then rely on the code

There's the problem right there.

when i was employed by the evil ripspeed, we used to have a massive book with lost of coloured squares with a hole punched out of the middle so you could match the paint allowing for fade etc. any idea where i could get this done?

There's the problem right there.

they got my cherry red mixed up and it was a perfect match.

Just remember though, they only sell you the base colour, as some one mentioned 20 year old paint might need a help to get it back to its original colour. also you will need a can of 2k lacquer to give the shine back a protect the paint.

Rob there is a place near me mate who are specific paint mixing and so on.

i went halfords years back and i asked for the red for my car with codes and so on, they may as well have given me green, mixing it with paper cups and by eye.

http://www.autopaintsupplies.co.uk/ give them a ring.

I'll get you some from my suppliers Rob, just confirm the paint code, or call in at Chirk autopaints and see Andrew. its on the estate past the train station
