Ive used the meguiars clay bar with great results really does make a diffrence, be great to fid out what wax to use to protect it

i just used t-cut clay kit for basic clay. Then move onto Autoglym super resin polish. After that i used the Auto glym high def wax and it makes my red dance in the sunlight.

I got my wax from amazon for about £25 i think, halfrauds sell it for about £40

A few shiney ones mate lol I sold my Fiat coupe and bought a nice low mileage Golf GTI and have spent the last two days doing the outside of the car still have the inside and windows to do yet but its comming up well. I t-cuted all the paint work and used my favorite polish Poorboys detailing wax which is very easy to apply I just used a small polishing sponge to put it on and a microfibre cloth to take it of, you can also use a machine buff to do it also. If you have new paint I would stay clear of t cut asit would be to sore on new paint. Here's some pic's.

so if i was to use the maguiar ultimate compound to mop the car with a machine buffer and then the poorboys wax on top i should have a shiney zed? I have a lot of light scratchs in the paint work which i need to remove see.

I could just park it outside your house as im sure a dirty zed will probably do your head in and eventually your clean it for me

Hey bud. I have been using that meguiars ultimate compound and have come up with some pretty decent results. It is not too aggressive but will get most of the swirls etc out. I would be inclined to follow it with finer finishing polish before i went with the wax. With regards to which mops/pads to use I would go with a medium density pad to see what sort of results you get. (I like the 3M pads)

I used the same wax as Gary on the zed last time.. that poorboys paste is really decent, easy top apply, you don't need to leave it long to cure and it is bloomin cheap in comparison to other waxes out there.

Check out my thread to see some pics of the results of using the meguiars products.... particularly the 50/50 pic.. gives you a good indication of what you can achieve with the ultimate compound.

Well pablito is because of your post i have spent loads of monies on cleaning stuff! well that and i have been meaning to do it for a while. When you say a finer finishing polish do you mean a polish for the machine or to be put on by hand?

something like this if you like Meguiars:

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polish-compounds/meguiars-205-ultra-finishing-polish/prod_564.html

You can use the machine or hand for any of the stuff really, personal preference. I like to start with the polisher and finish off by hand.

Although, reading up on the ultimate compound that you and I are using, it does state that its a bit of a one stop shop and so negates the need for a finishing polish.

I would say, give it a go this weekend and see how it turns out.... You can always buy more stuff later on down the line if you want to get more into it... BE WARNED.... It gets to be a VERY expensive habit.... I have just place another £100 order!!!!

Yeah i have noticed it get expensive! but its cheaper than a full respray, well thats my story and im sticking to it!

I have also noticed on ebay you can buy the supaguard paint protection for peanuts also the autoglym lifeshine for peanuts also,

i think i will be polishing mine then finishing it off with the supaguard

i sure will for you guys, will be a while though as the zed wont be on the road till the summer, but once its out of its corner in the garage its having a clay bar and polish,

ill also do the porsche with before and after pics

I've been correcting the damaged paint on my Zed, it had horrendous swirls on every panel, deep into the lacquer. I think the previous owner went crazy with a rotary, looked like it had been sanded!

It's my first ever attempt at any detailing work, I've never even polished a car before! I used Meguiars UC with a Lake Country Hydrotech 5.5" cutting pad (blue) on a £20 Titan DA. The results are amazing, did the whole car in about 5 hrs taking my time and getting the speed, pressure & technique just right. Even managed to fill an 18" long deep scratch on my wing so it's hardly noticeable. I'll be using Meg's Ultimate Polish to remove any fine swirl marks (Lake Country finishing pad (red)) before finishing off with some Bilt Hamber Finis Wax.

Honestly, the UC is amazing stuff. I know this post is fecking useless without before/after pics, but suffice to say I had bought the gear to respray the entire car, but now I only need to do my despoilered dog-eared boot. Gutted I didn't take pics of the mess it was in before!
