Will still be disappointed to see it go back on Thursday though :(

oooh R8, and yes i agree surprisingly slower than a zed (not by much though), i raced one and got the p taken outta of me when i said i was pulling away from it as people didn't believe me. Ok i wasn't stock, i was running 16psi on the tubs with supporting mods.

I have my own imaginary quarter mile, it may be a quarter mile, it may be less but.......in my Diesel Insignia I can get off the lights to a particular signpost and reach 70mph......in my Z it was 120 and in this R8 it's 120 too so not much different. I don't like the V-tronic gearbox in it either if it's in Auto mode, too jerky.....it's Ok if you switch it to flappy paddle mode though :)

I do like the R8 - and that is indeed intersting about your performance comparison Dave. Kind of backs up Voddy's claim too; so it seems "those that laughed were daft!!"

 

Might have been different in the V10 though.....

on paper it should beat the zed, but in real world it struggled against mine (the cherry red one) bit like the veyron vs the f1, on paper the veyron should of pulled away from the McLaren off the blocks (veyron 0 - 60 2.8 vs mclaren f1 0 - 60 in 3.2), but it didn't, it took until the veyrons turbos kicked in before it caught up.

Just been back out for another 'test' now the errr track is a bit quieter and 100% agree that Voddy could have pulled away from one, certainly a V8 one. You just don't get the punch in the back that you get in a well modded Z.

 

My Z was running a chipped ECU, Decat, Filters, Mongoose, Electronic boost controller at 14psi and, from a standing start, 0-120mph came up in the same distance/time. Given that Voddy was running slightly higher boost i'd happily believe that an R8 was getting smaller in the rear view mirror

You know, I once read that if you are driving along and there's someone hanging onto your tail in a (much) lesser car than you - one which yours should despatch with ease - then it must be that the driver of that car is.....

well i live 6miles from santa pod *cough* though i no longer have my cherry red zed and my current one is still only producing 7psi which is safety boost but with no error codes, just never got to the bottom of it as i drive like a grandad half the time anyway lol

Shame the red one has gone....we could have had some fun tomorrow night proving the Z is faster!

 

They do say you should never meet your heroes.....i'm not saying it's not a fantastic car.....but I kinda expected that little bit more

bud your not the only one, everyone was the same when i said i pulled away from one in my zed, i got ripped into because everyone expected it to beat the zed with out much fuss, and i have to admit i did too when the race was on (private road not public)
