Engine temp sensor?

Hi guys

My z tt has the old up and down idling problem and ive been told that as my temp gauge also moves up to max then mid then max etc my temp sensor must need cleaning. Can someone say wher it is located and is it best to clean or replace this. How much roughly is a new one. Any other info on this idling problem would be useful. P.s idling seems ok when cold and when warm with AC on.

Cheers guys

There are two sensors at the front of the engine just behind the fan cowl,

they are quite simple to replace and you could probably manage it yourself.

I think they are about £20 each

do an ECU diag check first to see if the sensor is giving you your problems

That sounds to me like a dodgy thermostat. Only a few quid.

Not guaranteed but it's the "simple" answer.

As always with things like this though, if you've got a nearby mate with a Z then a quick swap of temp sensors is dead quick & easy.
