What kind of Antifreeze should I use?

I have heard that the wrong antifreeze can be bad for your heater matrix. Can anyone reccomend a good easily available antifreeze, or should I go to Nissan?

Thanks

Yes and No. It depends upon the state of you electrical system.

Earth leaks can be a killer. I went through four matrixes in just over as many months when I had a major earth leak. Essentially you get electrolysis in the matrix that with high leakage currents such as could be caused by a problem with the starter moror circuit can disolve the Aluminium. I think the record is less that a day according to the technical paper that I found.

Antifreeze with less ionic salts will help the situation but not stop the problem. No earth leaks = No problem.

Alternatively you can use my approach. Crack a cyclinder head and run oil cooled. eek.gif

Bruce use Nissan antifreeze,It's not that expensive and it is very good stuff wink.gif.
