ive a 91 uk manual with 72k on the clock ,some times its hard to get in to first at junctions and when i pull away then change into second i can feel a little gear crunching no noise just feel it crunching this is only now and then anyone have the samething or is this normal as my other 2 zeds were autos

It's not normal no. It could be a few things. Short shifters can sometimes cause this, It may be worn bushes on the gearstick, it could be a worn synchro gear in the box itself.

From my limited knowledge it does sound like it's maybe a worn synchro though. Do you know what gearbox oil your using?

Mine also does this, but it goes once the box has warmed up, and I did hear that this is a bit of a zed box trait?

you could be right tudor ,i hardly ever use mine i run it round the block now and then and thats about it then it lives in the garage the rest of the time so it never really runs for long ,has alot to do with the weather as i never run it in the rain or shitty weather ,when the summer gets here i may use it alot more,,you reckon a recon box steams or just a look inside?

Mine also does exactly this and i've changed the bushes and I don't have short shift.

I also put it down to the synchros

think i will have to live with it then as i dont use it oftern to spend out on a recon gear box
