electric seats

Hey guys,

got some second hand leather seats for the zed, which were delivered today.

I didn't realise they were electric though as my old ones aren't. Does anyone know if it's possible to wire these up or is it too much hassle? I'm not too bothered really, just thought if it's there i might as well use it if i can. Wouldn't know where to start though.

Depending on the year and model the loom may even be in place already. Most z's come as standard with electric seats (electric drivers pre 92, electric drivers and passenger 92 -95. Optional from 95 onwards and on Slicktops and some very early 89 models.

If the loom and connectors are not there, then you just need to wire in a positive feed from a good source. Personally I would wire it direct in from the Battery using a thick gauge cable and Fused. The motors draw a fair bit of current so don't go connecting it up to any small gauge existing feeds.

it's an '89 model and i'm pretty sure there's no connectors there. It's only the drivers seat that's electric. Do you think it would be easy for someone with no experience of electrics to do?

Really easy, as Dave said, run a power to the seat and ground it to the floorpan. It doesnt matter if you, get the wires round the wrong way it will simply work in reverse, so if that happens just swap the feed wire over.

whilst we're on the subject, mine need altering, I have a UK Z32 with heated leather seats out of a different UK model. My car's plug has 4 pins but the seats have 6 pins? any idea what the difference is?
