Hello. I have fitted upgraded turbos and was wandering if there is any way of checking the pressure in them myself or does it have to be done in a garage, and can you adjust the pressure? Cheers for any comments. Paul.

Paul,

I would do two things to answer your question.

First i would get a new aftermarket Boost guage the Stock one is rubbish and will only measure to 14psi some what inaccuratly.

Then get yourself a Electronic Valve controller. you can get very reasonably priced manual ones like Greddy Profec B Etc. or you can get fancy electronic ones This will allow you to control the exact boost pressure that the turbos are pushing out.

A note of caution - i would recommend you do not under any circumstance turn the boost up unless you have a ECU with larger boost maps fitted - I would then only risk 14psi max untill you can get bigger injectors at least.

If you do turn the boost up at all no matter what setup you are using - keep a carefull ear out for Pre Detonation - dont drive around with the Bizkit cranked upto 30 for a while as if you have bigger turbos that and have not got a chip retuned for them the air flow characteristics will be subtly different - you should be OK as long as you dont get of zealous with the boost but DO PLEASE make sure the Engine has enuff Fuel to compensate for the increased Air density - or you Will BLOW UP your engine.

Also doing something to cool the intake charge at some point might not be a bad idea. bigger IC's WI Etc.

Hope that helps

Out of curiosity what turbos did you get ?

Cheers Nico. I was rebuilding the engine at the time and the turbos where shot aswell so I just went for stage 1 hybrids, just one step up, nothing too fab and expensive.
