my 350 is quicker than my 300.............................................N/A!

All jokes aside though i do love my 350z, but wouldnt put it in a speed race against a 300TT

not unless i was hiding my own pair of blowers under the bonnet!! ha ha ha.

Doesnt this just show the way that manufacturers have gone with regards to car production though, lets go a little softer on the power for the good of the green house.........but lets still have it in the top tax band......

I think it would have been a different story if they had tt'd the 350 from factory as that would drop it in like a baby gtr wouldnt it being as the gtr uses the 3.7 with turbos doesnt it :)

Though i understand from common opinion that the vg35 in the 350z doesnt take to boost well without modification, that is something however that Nissan surely would have sorted if they had chosen to go down that route :)

No the GTR uses a completely different 3.8 engine

Ah does it? Sorry, my mistake :)

Admittedly I haven't done much reading up on the gtr as they are miles out of my price range! Ha ha :)

Aside that though, the point I meant to make was if Nissan had wanted to make a tt 350. Then I'm sure it would have out performed the 300.... But I guess Nissan saw that big engines were on the decline so tt may have hurt sales figures...... But I could be completely wrong as my whole argument is based on a hyperthetical theory from inside my own head!!! :D

Again apologies for my lack of research prior to referencing the almighty GTR!!! :)

I think the biggest problem as seen by Z owners about the 350 was Renault. The Z series was historically an NA, it was only the 300ZX that were turbo's (both the Z31 and Z32 were available with a Turbocharged engine. The newer 370Z is as quick as a stock TT yet has an NA engine. It does appear that the GT-R has taken over as Nissan's performance which is why I think the Z is kept back.

That's what I was tyin'a say! Ha ha :D

Despite seeming like the successor to the 300zx, the 350z was intended for an entirely different market.

The 300zx, with a price tag of £35-40k 20 years ago, was Intended as a Japanese 'Supercar' with the technology and specification to rival the top of the range high performance sports cars from Porsche, Corvette and its fellow Japanese competitors. Designed when Manufacturers were pushing themselves further and further, and where customers had the money to spend, petrol prices were low and people were not so concerned about Environmental issues. In terms of Design, development and its Sales Market the 300zx has more in common with the new GTR than the 350z.

As it happened there were economic issues around the world shortly after the 300zx launch, and this had a negative affect on worldwide sales, and shotlived the UK Sales market.

The 350z is designed to compete with the entry-mid range sports cars, often used as Company cars like the Boxter, Bmw Z4 and RX8 at a much lower price range than the 300zx, despite economic inflation. A very capable sports car in its own right though, and similar in performance to the 300zx simply due to advancement in engineering design over the years.

here is a good blast between a chiped 300 vs a 370z.

which do you think will win?
