Ideas about why its doing that? It a bad gauge in the first place. The Oil Pressure sender unit is bad. Mines doing it now. I did an oil change today and I was gonna out my new gauge on too, but I couldnt get to the sender unit.

My guess is oil pressure sender unit.

My oil pressure was low before I changed mine. When I sat at a set of lights with the engine warm, the needle would hit 0 and scare the smelly stuff out of me. I could rev it to 2000 rpm and the needle wouldn't budge frown.gif.

But the funny thing was, I never heard the lifters ticking, so I put 2+2 together and decided that the oil pump WAS working enough on tickover to 'inflate' lifters. So I fitted another sender unit and hey presto!! sensible oil pressure readings biggrin.gif LOL biggrin.gif

Hope this helps!

Robert.

I only use the brakes so I can accelerate all over again.

yup, sounds like the sender unit.

if you know anyone thats got one, you could test the pressure with an oil pressure test gauge.

Hmmm...weird, My oil pressure was way out, read 0 most of the time when warm. It's loads better since I changed the oil - dunno what it's s'posed to read but at least it reads more than 0 now :-)

I got a replacement sensor from courtesy - waiting 'til next oil change to fit tho'....

They say you can change it while the oil is still in. You have to be quick getting the new one into place though.

you wont loose much oil changing the sender (if any at all), unless you try to change it with the engine running!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Paul is right, Dave Buckley changed mine a while back and no problem with any oil loss once the sender is unscrewed! wink.gif

Good idea to put some Nissan red sealant on the thread of the new one before you put it back in though.

Mine was playing up, cured it!
