got into work today low and behold in the back in his aston martin v8 vantage, clutch has gone now!, its only done 51k!, so rang up a few arston specialists and the cheapest quote we got was £2670+vat!, most expensive was aston martin genuine garage! near 3800!!!

 

This is one expensive car, all us staff just find is funny here is his bill list below he's had in the past 18 months:

 

2 Sets of tyres £1400

 

New Brake Discs + pads all around £980

 

Front headlight bulb went!, you have to get a whole new unit just short of £500!

 

rear lights packed up!, had to replace whole units!, i knew this was just over 1000!

 

ECU Faulty had to be replaced £4400!

 

Boot lock packed up replacement £250, "and he could not get his golf clubs out the boot when he had a tournament", that was funny

 

drivers Heated Seat packed up heat element £300 (apparantly it was a neccessaty!)

 

Sat nav screen packed up replaced from ebay for £280

 

New exhaust! old one rotted bare in mind its only 2007!, £1150

 

now the clutch!

 

were just all finding it funny now as all he does is brag about it!, abit expensive for saying its got ford mondeo interior switches! lol

 

lesson: dont buy an aston lol

he said mine will break down you will have problems after problems and ive had none!

being honest everyone thinks there a high standard of car, probably the db9's etc are, but the v8 vantage are not anything that special!, exhaust sound nice, but there not that quick even!

Ha,ha poor bugger, A lad who I used to work with test drove an Aston about 6 years ago, it was brand new from the showroom..... 7 miles into the test drive the gearbox went!!!, he was stranded in Buxton with the salesman for 1 hour until another 2 Aston`s came to pick them up, on the way back all the electrics packed up on the other one!!!!!! even the sales man said, you better go somewhere else mate!!!

I have toyed with buying a second hand Vantage on may an occasion..... But the rumours surrounding reliability (and the potential repair costs) have always put me off.

 

I would consider the newest shape Jag XKR though (not the bloated old ones) - although I'll probably remain sensible and stick with Merc.

Actually saw 2 astons on a drift day at Santa Pod, some people have to much money.

My boss has one as well, its a nice car although not been without its share of problems!! Its not been that bad so far though I have to say.

 

They sound awesome, although I wasnt blown away by the performance - It didnt really feel any faster than my zed. However the noise, oh the noise! Windows down, walls either side 2500rpm. I nearly had a gentlemans crisis!

My boss has one as well, its a nice car although not been without its share of problems!! Its not been that bad so far though I have to say.

got to agree the noise is good!, but agree with you i dont think the v8 vantage is that good of a car!
