Okay, im going to be installing and setting up a boost controller ( thankyou Nick 300 zx ) , it has 4 avaliable pre sets, question is

what should the maximum setting in PSI be ,

taking into account i have a standard engine ( albeit chipped, HKS filter & mongose pipes ) and it is an automatic. I do not want to run the risk of killing my pride and joy for two seconds of high octane pleasure . so what do you people reccomend.

thanks

Neil

you should be able to run 14psi matey on your build.

Wouldn't worry about blowing your engine, if its going to do it, there really isn't much you can do to stop it short of a rebuild anyway.

Is your engine in good condition though?

you could always have standard boost as one of your presets, then when you want a bit of playtime have it as 14psi

Mines a jdm auto with a central20 ecu with a DTA chip, one grade cooler iridium plugs, a full stainless custom system from the turbos back(no cats) and a ebc and mine runs 14psi no problem, holds boost a treat and no det :)

What should the standard boost be for a 300zx tt manual out of interest?.

Mine hits 14psi every time and as far as I know, It's completely standard.

9psi is normal boost 7psi is safety :) Your's must have boost jets or ebc OR a dodgy boost gauge mate.

If you're referring to the standard boost gauge, mine does that, I put a real boost gauge on it for a while and the standard one only shows you on/off really, it doesn't actually give you any indication of actual pressures, lol, they may as well have just put a light in the dash somewhere that lit up when you hit boost for what that gauge is worth.

If your engine is healthy and your tubs are in good form, I would run 12psi. Many knowledgable people here will recommend 14psi as a max limit on stock, but if stay just below the max limit boost for a standard 300zx you will not need to worry, and as you said....

not a problem red wine , does your car have a boost controller fitted, as if it does i may like to look at a real live piping arrangement and set up etc etc, the only bit im worried / nervous about, is getting into the right pipes at the right points and joining everything together correctly

thanks

My standard one is pretty accurate, it reads the same as the Greddy one ive got, except when the stock one hits the stop the Greddy comes on going :)

i think with a standard engine 14psi is a good to run but really if you want a piece of mind id run 10-12 psi least that way if the engine is great your not gonna run into problems and if the engines in poor health then any kind of boost is gona be detrimental..

think..how do you drive normaly then how do you drive at full razz then turn it down a tad

i mean unless you really wanna show up some one 10-12psi is enough..14psi is for your self

Mine is standard layout I'm afraid Sayers,

I would not have a clue as to the pipe layout for a boost control system.

There are plenty on here that do though, so hopefully someone will be along soon and explain.
