Yep we own zeds, but what made you get started?

Ive had a few fairly quick cars and some total poo, but also a lotus sunbeam, RS2000 mk2. rover gsi turbo plus some others.

The reason i bought my first zed. was a mate of mine got me started, when we went on a xmas do a few years back, and he turned up in auto TT, and i had a go. I was hooked instantly, just loved the shape, engineering and the look of the car. When i split up from my wife, i decided to get myself a toy, so i got a standard jap 91 TT auto, whilst being very happy with it, i was on here, and came across my TT UK, both zeds are still with me, the jap as spares, and the UK is my baby.

Its such an addictive car, just from it sitting there looking pretty doing nothing, to opening it up and really going for it. Quite honestly the best motor for putting a smile on you face ive ever had.

Interested to know, what made you go for a 300zx.?

I've always liked performance cars, mainly renault turbos and 2 zeds.

Looks and speed along with reliability are what I like sees for.

First time I seen a nice zed I bought it when I was 22, then struggled to insure it! Nbut had a great time with that car.

Sold that as I was skint a few years later and went back to Renault 21 turbos.

Last summer sold another 21 turbo and wanted something else, seen another cracking zed and went straight down and bought it.

Most of you know my list of cars, most of them had turbos, if they didn't have turbos they were big cc. I'd never really considered buying a Z before, although I had always liked them. The rear kinda reminds me of a Z28 Camaro and the front is like a Lotus/Lamborghini, add that to the 3.0V6 TT and you've got me interested, lol. I shared a house with a guy in NZ who had an NA red one, loved it, a few mates had them when I had my GTR, loved them too. When we came back from NZ we said "We're grown ups now, no more silly cars, we'll live with a people carrier and some diesel mondeo or something, go on holidays, go out to the cinema, bowling, etc." That lasted from February 2010 when we got back from NZ, to September 2010 when we bought the grey Z.

Rose said she was fed up with driving a people carrier and wanted something mental again, we found a gorgeous wine red R32 GTR on ebay, but was just that little bit out of our price range, so we spoke to the bank via their website for a loan, but got turned down because we hadn't been back in the country long enough to have any real kind of credit rating, so I started to think "What can we afford, that's got turbos, is a Jap, looks good and will give you that evil smile you get when you plant your right foot and all hell breaks loose", I came up with a Z, we found the grey one on ebay for not too much money and the rest is history. Since then we bought another that promised to be awesome but was actually shit, and now we're hooked on the Grey one. :D

Chick in my class in college always had her brother pick her up in one, missed the bus many times looking at it, took me 9 years but i got one lol

saw a yellow short wheelbase slicky about 20 years ago it looked so mean and the road presence it had , i have never seen anything else that even comes close ..searched and searched and eventualy picked up a 92 J spec manual tt in 1997 that i still have today and will be getting back in a few days time...

a friend in work had the z31 and that had me hooked the moment the roof came off so my search began and in 2000 i bought one i still have the same one today modified ofcourse by strosek but still loved by me and everyone who see's it,

its de-badged and many people dont know what it is although it still stands out very much even in toays market :)

Back in 97-98 I worked in a semi-conductor plant where the shift engineers were on pretty big money and had some serious toys in the car park. Me as a new graduate engineer who wasn't on big money could only look out the window and think one day I'll have something nice rather than my Seat Toleado.

Anyway one day was looking out the window and there sitting in the car park was a bright red zx, I had no clue what it was, I just new in that car park full of m5's m3's EVO's scubies and porkers that that one was the one for me.

After 10 years of constantly finding more responsible and grown up things to spend my money on I saw a red swb tt on here for sale just round the corner from where I had seen that original one, figured you couldn't pass an omen like that by so went had a look, but knew as long as it wasn't crap it was coming home with me, and it did.

Not looked back since, however our first baby arrived on the 11th of December and I'm not sure yet whether the old girl is going to get to stay.

During my 'boy racer' years I owned a burgundy Cavalier GSi2000 with a Walker exhaust, K&N 57i intake, 15' Team Dynamics alloys, and a few other bits. She was a beauty, but I remember wanting a turbocharged car more and more. I didn't want an RS Turbo, could no way afford a Cossie, not even a knackered old Sapphire, didn't want a Renault 5 GTT, so I thought I had to go Japanese, which I knew nothing about, other than some cars called Skylines which were awesome.

I was looking at 200SXs and thought they were quite nice for the money (about £6k at the time), then I remember seeing, for the same money, I could have a 3.0 Twin Turbo, 24V V6! There were no pictures of these amazing cars on the dealership site I was looking at (this was 10 years ago) and I remember seeing my first one and thinking 'that looks horrible!' I think the flatter bonnet and headlights, and the coupe look kind of took me by surprise. But it grew on me, and the greedy part of me wanted the BHP.

I took out a £6k loan, chose a dealership in Derby that specialised in Jap imports and who had 3 Zs in at the time, drove over there and wandered around the forecourt. There was a red GTO there (I didn't like all the lego stuck to it ;) ), there was a sexy black R32GTT for £3.5k which I almost would have had, had it not been for a massive crack in the centre console. There was a red MR2, an older-style Corolla GT4 (I didn't like the Subaru-style bonnet intake), and three ivory white Z's in a row.

After sitting in the Skyline and experiencing the relatively plain interior, the cockpit style of the Zs settled it for me. In the end I chose the most expensive one, got the dealer to paint the front bumper's lower lip white (it was black at the time), and install a Cat 1 alarm. That was it - me sorted, with a doubling of my previous car insurance.

I have no memory at all of the 300 from when I was younger, the car as passed me by which actually I do like it that way.

I did look at buying a Supra, the 2.8i as I had the brochure and loved the electronic dash, I did go to buy one about 10 years ago but I didn't feel it and walked away so put that to bed.

Also, the later 3.0 which was stored brand new in our mill (never liked the shape of these), along with corollas, mr2's, etc.....all new and I was about 17!!!!!!! Imagine!!

I saw Top Gear Hammond with the red one in the ice about 2 1/2 years ago and thought I like that, a little different, did some research as I knew zilch about them and liaised with a forum member and went down to Newport and got the SWB, first one I had viewed, paid more than I originally set out to do, but I am very happy with my purchase, could not of chose better with Zero regrets :cool3:

then one day I saw one for real parked across the road, it was probably 1 year old and had a full body kit on and a disabled man was getting out of it!!! i thought he was god :}

Was it purple or black??

Probably was the one owned by "Bob" in Southport. It appeared in max power and on their video. I almost bought that very car, had a drive of it etc. It looked awesome with the wide kit on it - i'd never seen anything like it.

My interest came from my parents owning Nissans and therefore seeing them in the dealerships in 1990. I remember thinking they looked amazing and so hi-tech.

I've always loved Nissan's, I had my share of s13 200sx's and a Silvia and when my friend phoned me up to tell me about a 300zx for sale not to far away, I knew I had to have it. I love everything about it, the looks, engine, sound only wish it had 2 turbo's.

I was giving up the jap scene when I first found mine, id always like them but my 1st car was a mk3 Supra, ended up have 7 of them a couple of mr2's and 2 mk4 supras then decided i needed something sensible so went to see a nice BMW 3 series and while I was down in the farborough area I arranged t meet a member on here that was selling a nice TT so had a look and it was a no brainer, another 30k on jap cars later and im still here.

Amazes me how many have had mr2's, had my heart set on an mr2, z's were out of my price range. then i test drove 3 different mr2's.... just didnt do it for me.

Jokingly to start conversation with a couple of mates on msn i said you wouldnt happen to knolw of a dirt cheap 300zx would ya....

I awaited a "lol wtf no"

Instead i got a "yeah this chick i know has a crashed one"

30 minutes later i was driving it home.

Best 300 quid ever.
