Better camera and Siri are the main features the 4S boasts over the 4.

Although I have a 4S, in my opinion it's not worth the extra (I only upgraded because I'm an Apple junkie)

Siri is a nice feature but you have to ask yourself after the novelty wears off will you use it?

get the 4s if the cash isn't an issue, may as well, sod android, i like the simplistic design of the iphone always have always will, and looking at the android OS its a bit obvious who they copied, so why settle for second best, just go to the number 1 spot and get a IOS device simples. (now wheres my pot stirring smiley lol)

Weve just got some htc windows phone 7's at work i admit maybe iphone is better, but there brill microsoft really crakced it this time!

a good majority of the apps on android are ports of apple apps anyway, but hes asking to get either the 4 or the 4s lol (think people have just ignored that and focused on switching phone all together)

You mean with the icons on a desktop, like every other computer with a GUI in the world? Other than that Android looks nothing like iOS

Indeed, lots of apps that cost money on the iPhone are free on Android, from the same developers, who do have the ability to charge on Android if they WISH TO, unlike on iPhone where they don't get the choice (As a developer I have a right to be pissed at Apple for this, lol)

No it isn't, it doesn't make phone calls, unlike a Galaxy Tab which is genuinely a large phone/tablet. The iPad is an over-hyped, enlarged version of the iPod.

phew, now where's my stirring spoon gone......

you seemed to be miss informed about the cost on iphone of the apps, not all apps cost money, there are free ones and some pretty damn good free ones at that.

Ipad is exactly like the iphone with out the call function, which makes more sense than sticking some large tablet up against your head to talk to someone lol, the ipod touch was modeled on the iphone, so iphone - ipod touch - ipad. the functions are exactly the same, except the calling feature.

Also, want free apps on the iphone? jailbreak, but then thats a hole other kettle of fish.

nay point talking to someone who just has a passionate hatred for anything apple related.

Ive had the android phone and the windows phone. i shall stay with my iphone, and yes like you i cant stand apple, i think that says something though. but if i couldn't jailbreak it, i doubt id have it :)

Jail break + openSSH = win for idevice.

ROFL one thinks thou doth protest too much! :D

I don't have an inbuilt hatred for Apple as such, we're buying one of the 27" imacs for Rose, because regardless of it's ridiculous price tag and stupid keyboard and mouse which will get thrown away almost immediately, it's the best machine currently available to do the job for Rose. It's not JUST that I don't like Apple and their products, it's more because I HATE the fanbase they have for things that are NO better than other things on the market, yet cost twice as much, have half the freedom and ability that the other devices do, yet people still go and blindly buy them.

As for free apps on the iPhone, one very popular one as an example, Angry Birds, costs money on the iPhone, free on Android and in Google Chrome on the PC, nuff said, there are more free apps and better free apps on Android.

You say you've had THE android phone and THE Windows phone, there's no such THE device with those operating systems, the iPhone(s) are the only devices out there where there is no variation or choice, just like most of Apples lineup :( If you've had an Android device you didn't like, you bought the wrong one, simple as that.

I think we should ban people talking about Apple on this forum, it always goes way off topic, no matter how much I try and stay away from it, I just can't. It's like Linux Zealots (My house has 1 desktop, 5 laptops and 1 netbook, which all run Linux, plus 2 Android devices and 3 smart TVs which all run Linux, yet I'm not a Zealot, believe it or not) who recommend Linux for EVERYONE, no matter WHAT their circumstance. You recommended an iPhone for Janus in another thread, she won't use even a tenth of the stuff on the iPhone and has no need for it (I'm not calling you an Apple zealot, just maybe an iPhone/device zealot, lol). I recommended an iMac to my best mate yesterday, when he was asking what he should buy as a top of the range desktop machine, which will last him the next 5 years and isn't on Windows. The other week someone asked me if he should switch to Linux, I told him to stay on Windows, it's just easier for him, lol. I have to make recommendations to people all the time, lots of those recommendations have to go completely against my moral compass, like recommending someone write code in Ruby if they want to get paid a decent salary, instead of in Perl or C, where they'll get paid less, but would write better code and better programs :D

And you have heard of a bluetooth headset for making calls on the tab right?

wouldn't call my self a zealot about it, my love for it, comes from the ability to stick two fingers up at apple and use my device the way i want to, just like i did with my windows device, i found it far to easy on the windows one to add the bits i wanted it to do, no challenge, i think thats why i stick with my car that seems to throw the most random problems up at me, i love the challenge, just hate the frustration that goes along with it, but such is life lol

Anyway as for paying for apps, id rather support the person making them than just stick them on the iphone because they are free, free doesnt necessarily mean good all the time, i believe that if someone is getting a little something for it, i hope they are putting that money to good use to come up with something better next time and the next. though that isnt always the case.

Couldn't agree more, I've paid for apps on Android. MailDroid being the main one I've paid the most for, plus a couple of games like Can Knockdown2 etc. But over 99% of the apps on my phone were free, whilst my mate who has an iPhone 4. 70% of his were paid for and his doesn't do half the stuff mine does. Granted he's a chef and I'm an IT/Cloud engineer, but still, lol.

As a developer mate I'm glad to hear you like to support rather than rip off apps, however if I write an app that I want to put on the market for free, I wouldn't write it for the iPhone, because there are just too many hoops to jump through for the sake of it, which is why I think a lot of other developers like me, stay away from the iPhone. Why would I want to write the app in Object Oriented C and faff about with all their ridiculous rules, when I can write it in Java or in fact any language I want and get an interpreter app to convert it to work on Android? tbh the only iPhone devs I've met who do go through all the bullshit to put a free app on the iPhone, are doing it because they fancy themselves as being famous and the next owner of something viral like Facebook, which I really don't want to be, lol.

and on the upside im going to go for a iphone 4s lol

lol good choice btw, I just felt like stirring Voddy as he's so passionate about it. Sorry for the hijack :D

thats where cydia comes in with the iphone and jailbreaking bud.

once jail broken it sticks cydia app on your device. this lets you buy apps that normally apple wouldn't allow you to put on the istore, like SBsettings (actually free but gives you the option to donate to the dev), which gives you a one motion access to all the settings on the iphone with out the hassle of going through "settings then hunting for the one you want", and also imastersystem (mastersystem emulator lol) isnes, iN64, and psxforiphone lol

Plus a load of other very cool apps that apple for some bizarre reason decided wouldn't be good on the appstore.

PS whos playing who? maybe i keep recommending the iphone because i know you cant keep away from the subject with out mentioning android  :flowers:

the problem with jail breaking is people instantly think that it involves copyright issues when it doesnt, you have to add that sort of thing to it, jail breaking only opens the door to apps that developers have stuck on cydia, either because apple didn't want them on the app store, or the developer could not be arsed with apples rules and regulations.

my mate over here..Daren has the 4s it locks up constantly, has worse reception issues than the 4, the camera is better but not i would say by much....and it keeps turning its siri on by itself and doing all kind of strange things ......stick to the 4 he wishes he has and haseven offered me a swap , my 4 for his 4s i turned him down as i know what issues he is having

and on the upside im going to go for a iphone 4s lol

Just buy the phone so your not stuck in a contract because the iPhone 5 is being released in Sept 2012 :)

How come every time a question is asked about the iPhone we get the whole iPhone vs Android vs Windows debate !

It's like like arguing over which do you prefer a Cube or a Circle !

We've done it time and time and I'm bored with it all.

I think on this particular question Del is asking I say go for the iPhone 4s !

And from now on we should just ban any apple, android or windows arguments !

Aggreed !, (as I post this from my Apple iPad 2!)

Lol

I think there should've just been posts about the 4 and 4s beacuse that was the thread title!
