I bought an (auto) 300zx Twin Turbo with a gearbox fault.

It is meant to be running 400bhp? I doubt this but it cannot stretch its legs due to no final drive!

When I bought it 1st to 2nd was very difficult. I looked at the transmission fluid which was non-existant - now it is topped up to the right level 1st to 2nd is easy although a bit sluggish. 3rd does not exist? which is the problem!

Has anyone have any ideas?

Swapping gearbox ECU

Swapping Gearbox or any other suggestion

HELP! don't want to be defeated by changing gearbox if I can help it as that looks like an engine out mission

Thanks David (Newbie)

There are a few electrical issues that can effect some of the gear selection process however when the gearbox begins to fail the usual order is the overdive first and then third drive gear and eventually non, so it would appear to be the gearbox, autobox rebuilds can be expensive at least £1k and sometimes much more, a good warranted box however is so much less even with fitting.

Good news though its a simple proceedure ( NO ENGINE OUT ) especially on a 2 post ramp and should take no longer than 4 hours to replace, add a new fluid cooler at the same time for good measure.

Also the steering goes a little heavy? I have read other posts about HICAS light and gearbox sensor being damp or defective? I have overdrive and both power and hold buttons work fine?
