Hey lads, long time, no speak. Merry Christmas and all that to everyone.

My career ended and so did my marriage but I've hung onto the Zed. :thumbup1:

The wheels are looking a bit tatty. I was thinking of getting them refurbed. They're 'Ace Turbines' - polished alloy outer lip, painted inners with plastic centre caps and there's plastic fake bolts round the edge of the painted bit (fake split rims I guess).

The alloy lip and painted inner aren't too bad but could do with improving (scuffs and light corrosion removing and re-finishing). The plastic fake bolts are looking tatty and I suspect can't be replaced or easily improved.

Would it be possible / a good idea to removed the plastic bolts and fill the holes with filler or something?

I was thinking either paint/coat the whole wheels or just do the inners and re-polish the outer lip having removed the parking scuffs.

When I say do all this, I mean pay someone else to do it!

Any idea what would work well?

Any idea what would be cheap (I know it will never be cheap cheap)?

Any suggestions of a place to do it? I'd rather deal direct with whoever does them than take them to a place which sends them somewhere else and takes a cut as well.

I've got my OE alloys with good tyres so can leave the Aces with someone for a while.

ps - Slick Pete, if you're still about, I still have a leaky headlight I owe you as part of the exchange deal you did me on a good one! I'm near Newark, my mobile number's the same although the light's at my exe's place in Peterborough but I can collect it next time I'm there.

same wheels as dazvert has on his silver TT zed, http://300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=782

Make sure they are defiantly plastic bolts before taking them off, if they are and there is no visible join, then id say good to go, as the plastic bolts will only be for decorative purposes to make them look like split rims.

One of my friends is a powder coater and he charges £140 for 4 wheels, that is shot blasted and powder coated in any colour you want, and is work is excellent

not sure on wheel refurb, but ultimate finish is an excellent sand blasters/ powdercoaters on the newark side of lincoln, just down the road :)

Glad you asked the question about the annoying little plastic bolts, mine are knacked. Spoke to an alloy man and he said to just paint them again but they have gone all flakey and horrible.

There is a mobile alloy refurber just down the road from me (in rainworth) i'll try and get his number for you, i asked for a quote a while ago but he never got back to me.

Theres wheelworkz (think thats what they are called) in nottingham, near KFC next to sneinton, and theres also another place in notts where BeeGee Vince got his done, he says they did a great job.

Last time i got mine done it was £120 for 4 at wheelworkz but that was 2 or more years ago so the price has more then likely gone up.

If you get yours done soon can you post up some pics of what uve done to the plastic bolts as im thinking of filling mine in as well.

Cheers, difficult times at the moment but to going a meet would be good.

Yep, same wheels as mine, nice one, the plastic bolts are on the inner wheel stud covers and can be replaced with stainless ones and some little nuts on the back, try Derbyshires in Southport, they have the same allen bolts :)

Thanks, good advice. Just remove the plastic ones and put the stainless ones in instead? What size stainless fit? M6? M8? I'm rubbish with this sort of thing!
