Well after nearly 4yrs rebuilding the zx it was finaly ready to try turning it over for the first time, but no...... the damn thing didnt even try.

Think its something related to the immobiliser. Have removed soo many things that was plugged in that i think its not allowing the immobiliser to work properly.

So more delay in getting it done.

Have you tried putting a battery in.....lmao.....:lol:

I'm sure you will find out the problem very soon.

Can you just remove all connections to the system made by the immobiliser to get the engine running and then sort it at a later date?

I had to do this with our golf when it wouldnt start, it easy once you've got your head round whats going where. Depending on the immobiliser it'll either immobilise one circuit (ignition) or two (ignition and fuel pump). remove the immobiliser wiring and crimp the standard circuits back together.

But label everything so you know where it should go back to!

Am not gonna refit the immobiliser once its of if that is the problem. Am just gonna get a new alarm/immobilser fitted.

Well after a full day going thro wiring and checking. Im no closer to a result and am now totally pi$$ed off with it.

Im getting power to the immobiliser relay and bk to the ignition switch but thats where it ends.

Need to trace where the black n red wire goes from behind the dash to where it goes to at bk off the bulkhead.

The fuel pump doesnt prime when ignition is switched on, but all dash lights are working. The starter motor doesnt even try altho all wiring to it is present and correct.

Any ideas please as im now at a loss and a annoying standstill.

Sounds like you need to root out the solenoids for the immobiliser mate, seems it's doing both starter motor and fuel pump, which is basically a Thatcham requirement. Never heard of a Thatcham immobiliser killing ignition altogether, just always starter and fuel pump, which is as it happens, exactly what my immobiliser does too, dash and everything else works, just fuel pump and starter are turned off by solenoids/switches from the immobiliser.

Thats what we looked at today. But the only relay found is the one to the ignition and that one works fine and is clicking over properly.

Will have to do more searching for one to the pump.

I have some relays from the Wasp you can potentially use to test whether your standard relays are dead or not bud.

use a test light and fit it onto the ignition feed on the starter and to an earth turn the key and see if it lights, if it does then you had feed to the starter, check the starter is good as well, either that or jump the starter by bridging the main power and ignition feed on the starter it should kick over, will confirm then if starter is ok.

Well after much deliberation on what to do it looks like taking it back out is the only option.

Theres no way this bottom end was in goid working order as it just simply doesnt keep enough compression to work without some form of help.

looks like i bought a dud one for sure.

So this week am taking it out and putting in the one i got off vodkashots.

This really is gonna be the zeds last chance before i break it up.

Fingers crossed this will work.

Just done a retest of the compression on pass side, its gone up but only by between 5 and 15psi. Cylinder 2 is now 80, cylinder 4 ,55 and cylinder 6, 100.

I cant see how this engine ever run with compression that low, so looks like i wasted alot of money on a pile of scrap.

At least now i know 100% where the problem is.

So if anyone fancys helping out removing and doing the other engine ive got, please feel free too.
