After my mate got it in my head, and me posting on here, (which started a big thing) i took the plunge.

Last night, i drove 400 miles (round trip) to pick up my new R33 Skyline GTR!

I did want an R32, but this was the one my mate was buying, but had to pull out of the deal. I made contact with the owner, and a deal was struck.

He did offer to meet me halfway to save the long drive, but i wanted to see the car from Cold, and boy was it cold last night!

No pictures yet, as my phone is crap and ive been out all day today.

Basics..

1995

Mines ECU

Ohlins(sp?) suspension

Rays wheels

Apexi exhaust

Air filters (cant see a brand on them)

Uprated oil cooler

Boost controller

Turbo timer

Thats all i can think of for now.

Drives near perfect! A little hard, but thats how i like it.

Drove the 200 miles home without a problem. Getting it home and over speedbumps, i noticed a little clunk from the front, im guessing a worn bush of some sort, will get that sorted asap.

Front splitter is missing, but how low it is, i can see why. Will be getting a new one and staying away from speep bumps!

First immpressions.... I dont know why i haven't bought one sooner! My mate has always loved them, he had a 1998 R reg one a few years ago, but i have never really been that bothered. Seeing how easy it is to get them to 500bhp is what made me look twice.

The drive is awesome, power delivery is great. I launched it once just to see how it did it, 4-5k rpm, dump the clucth and it just rocketed up the road!

Its not overly fast, running .8 bar boost. Not as fast as the last zed i had which ian said he thought was around 390bhp.

But im told the down pipe holds power back, so it going to see a mate at pro tuner to get it tweeked on the dyno and better downpipes when funds allow. With what its going already and that, should be close to 400bhp. My mates made 414bhp.

I cant afford it at the minute, but you only live once!

I'll get some pictures in the daylight tomorrow dude.

The M3 Convertible is for sale, but im tempted to sell the M3 coupe too. I could put some money into this and have a beast of a car!

Thats kind of the whole thing that got me wanting one.

I dont drive my car very much. Ive got a family car and am in that at the weekend, and in the week im in the van.. My toy is just that, at toy. It doesn't need to be practical, or economical, but it needs to blow my socks off everytime i drive it.

The last zed i had, i liked. Much faster than the others i'd had, but i got used to the power very quickly and wanted more. Getting more power would have meant loads of money.

The standard rb26 seems to be able to take loads of power. A pair a better turbos and some 555 injectors, along with a proper map, i should see over 500bhp!

same with a 300zx

The thing I really liked about driving GTR's (both 32's and 33's; I've never driven a 34 or 35) was the feeling that it wasn't lulling me into a false sense of security. The zed on the other hand I find has a tendency to behave up to a point and then quite rapidly reminds you that you're driving a powerful RWD car with little more than your own reactions to keep you in a straight line...

Good choice you've made there, and yeah sell the beemers' and build yourself something special :thumbup1:

To be honest, i like that about the zed. The back stepping out on full boost reminding you that it was a fast car. I had a traction control kit, but never fitted it as i feel thats what its all about. The Skyline in that respect is boring (Still tail happy when you want to tho), but with big power, i think it will be amazing!

Greg at protuner said they are a bit boring under 500bhp, but with it.... A beast!

Good luck bud....you do realise that you'll probably get bored of 500bhp at some stage though and then.......

looking forward to the pics Jim! I've had a couple of R33's but only the GTSTs. I did prefer my R32 GTR as a car though, but I tend to like the older car styling.

Sorry mate, i had a moment of madness and took the plunge.

I'd still love your zed tho... ARGH!!! Too many cars!!!

Lol well option is there if you wanna do a deal fella, quiet like the idea of the m3

Well done mate, you won't regret it. I do know what you mean about the Z feeling with kicking the back end out and it feeling that little bit more on edge, where the GTR tends to feel quite solid and together, it doesn't feel like it's going to kill you, etc. lol

Just enjoy it mate, when you're back on your feet properly in the new year, when the loans come in and the work picks up, spend some money on it, drive it through the summer until you get used to it and then do some more to it, by next year you'll have it up to 800bhp and it'll be insanity on wheels. I know this, because I damn near did it and most of my GTR friends have done the same. One friend has an R32 GTR that's SO quick he can almost go against Ron Kiddell, but it's not that driveable on the road anymore, lol, so just be careful not to go too far :D

Alrite mate gud luck with it, try to use v power shell fuel only optimises performance!! and if you have any questions about anything you can ask me I 've owned one for 8 years and been gtr.co.uk forum member for ages but mines is a Lemans r33 gtr with 623bhp

Cheers mate.

I only use V power. In this and all my M3's 300zx's.

What made you put the RB26 in a 300zx mate? Do you prefer the 300, or just fancy doing something different?

Im on gtr.co.uk, is your username the same?

Cheers

Hiya Jim, nah Rocket Ronnie is someone different altogether. There's Ron Kiddel, (RK Tuning), then there's Ronnie Smith (My mate with an R32 GTR) and then there's Rocket Ronnie, who to my knowledge now has an R33? Ron Kiddel helped build my mates R32, they're quite close friends.

I see.

Rocket ronnie had an insanely fast r33. I haven't heard of him for a while, but i saw the shell for sale not that long ago.

yeah I think I heard he was going for an R34
