It was my favourite 300 before i got mine. Saw it at JAE 2006 (i think, although i dont think it was at billing).

Anyway, i cant remember his name and its doing my head in and ive searched for ages on here.

It had a paint job like tizers blue snake skin effect?? but it was redish at the front and faded to black at the back. Huge wing on the back, maybe 4 or 6 pot rear lights, shark front bumper and it just looked awesome.

Anyone know what im talking about and point me in the right direction of some pics?

Thanks

The paint job on that car was fantastic. It had dragons and other stuff blown into the paintwork and could only be seen from a very accute angle, move a little and they blended back in and almost dissapeared.

Was a very well done motor tbh.

lmao yeah I forgot about the tail lights, not really my cup of tea either, although I've seen some well done ones, usually using the rear lights from a fiat coupe tbh. I hadn't noticed the ride height, but with a Veilside kit I'm not surprised about that, it wouldn't get far without being high with that bodykit, obviously I've already said about not liking the Veilside kit, but the spoiler isn't TOO bad. We have a similar one (Note I said similar, it's better looking) going on our grey one.

Oh cmon now... my car will get around fine and its skirts are just shy of 3 inches off the ground, it will dislike speedbumps though.... driveways...

Going to be alot of roadkill though lol

I genuinely do like the paintwork...

But it's a bit like rolling a turd in glitter.

good to see opinions from both courts but new peps to the board might think twice before posting their z for fear of being slated

Wow, im surprised funky si hasnt posted yet.

Was one of the best looking zeds in the club in my opinion, the wheels werent to my taste tho.

Car shows have got boring these days because no one does anything like that anymore. Theres no bodykits or decent paint jobs as its so expensive so the fashion has moved to just slamming the car and putting a nice set of wheels on it. You can go to B&Q these days and see nicer cars there then at a car show.

I think its a bit sad as well how everyone has just slated his car, hes not on the club anymore so lets go all out. When you see a new thread on someones car and theres something you dont like, i always find it best not to post anything in reply, its better then posting, that looks shit. Each to their own, everyone has a different taste.

Funky was banned matey.

As for commenting on peoples cars, well its a forum, if no one stated there opinion it would be one boring place, not everyone has slated it, this is the second time this week people have just focused on the negative comments and not on the ones where people have said they like it.

True not everyone likes it, but at the end of the day if your changing your car and showing it off, expect to get negative comments as well as positive ones.

Yes hes no longer on the forum, but his car isnt alive either, people comment all the time on other cars left right and center on car forums, if we stopped doing that may as well just not post unless you have a problem and need it sorted out.

problem is, the Veilside kits are not the best looking kits out there and anyone doing research into that will know that they draw a lot of negative comments, so its then down to whether they can cope with those comments.

FunkySi, didn't like anything other than stock and went a long way to upset the people who spent hours on there cars. it wasn't a one off it was constant. if it was after market, si didn't like it and would be very cruel in the way he put his points across (whether this was intentional or not is not know by me) Peronally i liked and got on with Si, but that doesnt mean he could bash people ALL the time just because it didnt go with his "OEM only" outlook.

the passing comment here and there about not liking it, just shows its a matter of taste from people, personally i like the color, wouldn't have it on my car, but can appreciate the time and effort spent in making it look how it did. do i like the kit? hell no cant stand it. BUT doesnt mean i do not (and i most likely speak for others here) appreciate the time and effort and money ploughed into achieving it.

When mine goes into the body shop next year for its respray, im dead sure people are not going to like what ive done, but you know what, its not going to matter, its my car, they aint going to be the ones seen driving it :)

Some good points there Ian definitely, the car Rose and I are building will probably be a bit marmite too tbh, although we are calming it down a little from what was originally planned for the Wasp, as that really was going to be outrageous.

FunkySi is a great laugh in person, met him for the first time at ZedWorld the other week for the Christmas Bash, but I think even he admits he's a little harsh on the web. When you can't see the cheeky smile on his face and you can't just tell him to **** off, without it seeming like you've taken huge offence, everything is different :( The main thing with Si also, isn't that he's OEM only, it's that he prefers 'subtle' mods, they don't have to be OEM, far from it, but in his opinion they shouldn't be garish, outrageous or lairy, lol. He's also extremely passionate about his opinion, as a lot of us are ;) If he'd tone it down a bit for the UK forums, I reckon he'd be widely liked, rather than a legend for the wrong reasons.

I'm with you on the veilside kits, they just don't do it for me, but that particular car, does look like it had a lot of time and money spent on it. Like the beast, I'm really not a fan of the car, but the level of work that's gone into it is just insane and if you can't appreciate that, you'd have to be a moron (Not aimed at anyone, that's a generalisation and quite flippant at best).

There will always be cars people don't like, the new Micra for instance.....lol......but unfortunately I think the advent of forums supporting people slating a car, rather than simply keeping schtum if they don't like it, has helped to kill off a lot of the great show cars we used to see. People always took a bit of a 'I don't like that tbh', but these days the opinions are much more free flowing and can feel much more insulting if you've put blood, sweat and money into a car.

I remember Doncaster show being FULL of custom cars, some of which weren't even road driveable, they were just concepts, you just don't see them any more and that makes me sad I'm afraid. I liked the car scene 7 or 8 years ago before we went to NZ, where you could go attend cruises and modified shows happily, where even JAE had an element of madness to it. It's no wonder the beast has won the car of show at JAE for the last few years running, it's the only one there that's even close to what the car scene used to be like and I think the fact it keeps winning, shows just how much of the car scene population still wish it were like that now. :(
