Hey people....

Ok, I need some tyres for my banger (Rover 220D) and looking at "Camskill". My original tyre spec is 175/65/R14 82T.

I have found a cheaper alternative, but the spec is 175/70/R14 84T.

Is there any major issues with the difference, or will this be ok. This is my daily driver for work, max speed is 86MPH at a push...... lol

Cheerz guyz,

Alz.

I think the percentage difference for the speedo accuracy is negligible with the extra 5mm wall height, something like a couple of mph over at certain speeds rather than under.

I did see the calculation somewhere will try and see if i can find it again.

It's not a 5mm difference, the sidewall profile number is a percentage of the overall width.

doooo it dooooooo it dooooooo it. you know you want to :taz:

I knew that lol The static rolling radius is the distance from the middle of the wheel to the road surface when the car is stood still, which is about 5mm.

So after calculating the percentages the difference in speed is 3.0% slower than the stock tyre

So when your speedo reads 60mph you will actually be doing 61.8mph.

Not one that cleans under the car..... :hammer:

That's what underseal and wax for your paint is for Al  Make sure every piece of paint always has a nice layer of wax on it, then waxoyl the underside of the car and inside the sills and your car will likely be completely fine. The worst thing people do (I've just done this) is drive it in the rain, get it dirty, then garage it without washing it, lol.

i wash mine EVERYDAY witout fail. unless i dont drive it on that particular day

Ha, now I don't feel quite so bad. What about if you wash it without even driving it? Is that bad?

Cheap tyres on the back = good. Cheap tyres on the front = bad :pinch:
