I'm sure Halfrauds cocked up the grey mix as it looks darker than the other did but it won't matter once the silvering is on there... will be done within the next few hours :)

Before i had removed it, it was fine. No rattle or anything at all wrong with it.

I had removed and refitted it a few times before with no problems at all.

As soon as,i refitted it after paint, i noticed a slight wobble on it. So i removed it ,checked i hadnt done owt wrong and refitted again.

checked again an had a wobble once more and then snap ad two blades came flying off just past my face.

Fitted another and no wobble.. took it back off, repainted and the wobble was back again.

removed it and cleaned all paint off and hey presto, no wobble.

All i can put it down too was the paint...

Could of been the paint but more the solvents in it.

Depending on the solvent, could have eaten at the plastic?

could be right there bud.

Just thought id give a heads up tho on it just incas very possible it was just bad luck, or the paint was at fault.

Suppose i'll never know,lol.

Yeah definitely appreciate the headsup Dave, I'll try to keep my head out the way just in case :D

Did you prime the fan first or use any cleaners? or just sand and spray colour.

Washed it in soapy water, prepped it with plasticote primer, then sprayed with plasticote silver then coated in plasticote clear laquer.

Ahh theres ya problem, plastikote. It's not really paint as such with the stuff they put in that, alot of oils and chemicals, i sprayed some motorbike bits with it once and lightly bumper it with my knee in a corner and the whole thing broke apart, doesnt mix with any other brand of spraypaint either, goes all crows feated.

Plasticote SUCKS..... BEYOND belief!!!!!!!! I think Ive sprayed about the 10th ++ full car interior worth by now and that stuff is a big NO NO lol :)

if you want decent paint you want to use Modeling rc Tamiya Acrillic paint .. sticks to everything and has a finish better then any plasticote/car paint going

I can understand why plasticote might have made a fan unstable, it comes out very thick and inconsistent compared to a layer of spray paint.

Mark, is that paint suitable for refurbishing roof trims? I was going to do mine with Plasticote until I read this as i've seen some excellent results from people doing it on various different cars.

yes it works all most on any thing just not expended foam

its about the same size can as plasticote

price is £5.99 and with a good range of colours

I definitely trust that it's better than most paints and INFINITELY better than plasticote (anything is) but it will NEVER ever ever ever ever replace HUMBROL in my estimation. Since the paint factory burnt down in Australia? the decent paint market is doomed forever .... I could have cried that day :(

I picked up from another post that you backpacked around NZ right? Spot on mate! :D As an IT person, my favourite argument was always that a router is pronounced root-er, not rowter. :D

On that one ... you are right, yes you can, definitely. 1 Christmas day ago we were dieing in the heat from it ARRRGH... then the following Feb walked out into ice and snow in t-shirts and felt ahhhhhh relief :)

But having melanoma removed from the face and walking into work with scars like it's a 'normal' routine no big deal thing... I dont miss that. And I deffo dont miss the pronunciation of cervIa-Acal - it's cervical you muppets! - the ads were sick too - bus load of hooge moari birds going to the smear like its a hen night :death:

Right, we must stop picking on the Kiwi, he's all on his own and can't defend himself, it's out of our systems now mate I erm, promise.

I've got to admit though, Christmas day in 34 degrees and 97% humidity just aint right!
