Well, I didnt get to the post office today to see if my chrome rings turned up so can finish my dials but I've had this job half done for ages. I'm finally getting on with it :)

I'm sure Halfrauds cocked up the grey mix as it looks darker than the other did but it won't matter once the silvering is on there... will be done within the next few hours :)

Yet another thing i havn't gotton onto yet.

Geez at this rate you'll be done before me!

Keep up the good work

Be carefull about painting the fan, as daft as it seems the paint can unbalance the fan (i know cos it happened to mine), resulting in it shaking and breaking 2of the blades.

just a bit of lacquer to seal it, then next pic will be in the car :) That silvering was a bit of a bugger to do lol :)

Do you have a thread about it/ your paint job somewhere? I searched, and cant find :( thanks :)

Guess you are running shroudless then if you've tarted up your fan?

Yeah the shroud made far too much noise, although I am tempted to look into a clear one? Now there's an idea :D

No, i didnt do a thread on it. I just got another one.

Are you sure it was the paint Dave? How did you come to the conclusion the paint had unbalanced it?

Before i had removed it, it was fine. No rattle or anything at all wrong with it.

I had removed and refitted it a few times before with no problems at all.

As soon as,i refitted it after paint, i noticed a slight wobble on it. So i removed it ,checked i hadnt done owt wrong and refitted again.

checked again an had a wobble once more and then snap ad two blades came flying off just past my face.

Fitted another and no wobble.. took it back off, repainted and the wobble was back again.

removed it and cleaned all paint off and hey presto, no wobble.

All i can put it down too was the paint...

eek, freaky

better put up a 'wobble watch' video when it gets installed then.... I'll get ready to duck! :)

Hey up Rose,

Dazvert has painted his and he has no probs,,, pm him, see what he says

Cheerz

Thanks, but now it's painted, it's going in, so will suck it and see, could be amusing lol :)

The paint might have given the illusion of wobble on the new fan mate, I certainly can't see something built to withstand the forces it withstands snapping blades off in mid flow just from some paint, that's bizzare. I'll make sure I don't go near the actual fan after starting it up for a few minutes, I'll admire it from behind the bonnet up near the wing mirror somewhere :D

I'd actually start to question the paint he was using/ a cleaning product he used before painting the fans that broke down the already quite brittle 20 year old plastic.

indeed. This particular fan is also completely crack free, bought it from a member on here as exactly that, no cracks or stretch marks or anything, where as the one on the grey one atm has cracks galore in it and I've considered a blade or two might snap off that at some point, this one I doubt, lol. No cleaning products have been used on it to my knowledge, just good old wet & dry and Rose ;)

Were you sure to use holy water blessed by the lord?

Don't ask me to say that with a straight face.

If holy water comes near me it boils mate :D

Yes 4, they're all married or taken and 3 of them have kids. The only one without kids is in her early 40s and is with some bloke that used to be the prince of some south American country until he met her, when he got banished :confused1: The eldest is married to an egyptian gentleman, the youngest (Who is still older than me) was in prison because she's the black sheep of the family and did naughty things and the one above her has like 6 kids
