You've got my vote Anthony!

Hi Mate,

I work in sales so dont worry about offending me LOL.

Im and a dad of 3, so i suppose to say i dont care isnt entirely accurate. More that im fed up with the whinging and moaning wherever it comes from as in my opinion what goes around comes around....

I tend to think that in the grand scheme of things it all evens itself out, and if you work hard put the effort in ultimately you get rewarded for it.

I appreciate that its not always the case and im certain people could give examples.

In this particualr case i can certainly see both sides, and i have enough friends who are teachers who i tell to there face that complaining at anything when they only work 38 weeks a year is a bit rich. b

But hey thats my 2p on it. like i say if we all had the same opinion life would be boring and all our Zeds would look the same LOL :) :)

J

LOL you're definitely more of a righty than a lefty then. I don't get actively involved in politics or anything, but discussions like this do entertain me quite a bit more than things like youtube videos of some monkey scratching his head comically. lol

Unlike Zedzilla, I like this a lot :cool3: I like your outlook on life buddy, some people take themselves and others too seriously.

He didn't exactly answer anything it was just jumbled opinion thrown together into a patchey garble that contradicts itself.

He is a troll.

Don't feed the trolls.

Having met him in person I can categorically state he is not a troll. Although his haircut is a little questionable!!

You need to realise we are not all cast from the same stone. Even if some of his comments are a little obscure they are as valid as any others.

I'm pretty laid back but can see how some of your comments (not necessarily on this thread) could be construed as offensive or even rude. Manners cost nothing, just remember that and you'll do okay.

Peace :yinyang:

Pass the pipe Daffy?

Pass the pipe Daffy?

No pipe dude. I can Pass the Dutchie though :cool3:

Got to admit, that did make me laugh.

Just as a heads up for some people, ZedZilla comes across as a pretty typical Kiwi tbh, he says it how it is. Most people behaving like him, would get called a troll or a keyboard warrior etc. He even managed to actually upset Rose rather than piss her off, which shows how much we've changed and become LESS thick skinned being back in England.

I've kinda got to stand up for him a bit, Kiwis don't really do the whole "pussy foot around" thing. It got me in a LOT of trouble when I came back here, because I really just didn't fit in in an office environment. I was swearing loudly in the middle of the office, telling women their arse looked fat in that dress, telling the boss "you're a fackin idiot mate", all sorts :D It's just kinda how it is over there.

I'll stand, here's my manifesto 10 key points

1. To claim dole must have worked and paid tax for 3 years

2. School/uni leavers must either work or take training schemes or point 3

3. Claiming benefits, 2 days a week community maintenance work

4. Immigration, Aussy rules, 10k finance to prove you can support yourself. and no staying just because you've had a kid here!

5. NHS only life threatening care for immigrants before returning home but above should fix this.

6. EU, we make our own rules end of!

7. Prison, must work for their allowance/PS3's 3 days a week hard work repaying the costs incured in your crime

8. Imports, higher tax like Switzerland and before people what about affecting exports if imported goods are expensive they start buying British which replaces the loss.

9. Goverment waste, departments held responsible for waste, manager can be sacked for grossly wasting money 'it's not just someone else money to spend' you wouldn't do it at home or in private sector whithout getting in the shat!

10. Tax once above measure kick in and we're back in the black reduce and give something back.

So flamed or get your vote?

Ill vote for you if you add bring back UK call centres into the manifesto....

Ill vote for you if you add bring back UK call centres into the manifesto....

You can be Anthony's duputy PM. Sorted :cool3:

Ill vote for you if you add bring back UK call centres into the manifesto....

A lot of companies are not only already doing that, but they're actually using it as a marketing ploy. Personally I hate call centers wherever they are, I've worked in them as a person on the phone, for both sales and customer services and I've worked in them as IT & Telecom support too, neither is a particularly fun job, but it does pay the wages. They reckon the shelf life of a call center agent, before they go insane and can't take it anymore, is 7 years, so they had to start bringing in all sorts of things, like a break every so many hours, only allowing X calls per agent every hour, introduce more 'free time stuff' such as pool tables and internet cafes, which is why it all ended up in Dehli! :(

It may be controversial but I will NEVER show any support towards any NHS doctors and nurses.

Just over three years ago my dad suffered an a bleed on the brain and then a stroke within three days of each other. He was in hospital for seven months but unfotunately was left in a permanant vegatitive state.

Week one, Monday had a bleed on the brain and was rushed into hospital at 2am. Had blood drained out of his head but we were told he had 10% chance of survival. Wednesday night just before we left he started to open his eyes and respond to our voices by squeezing our hands and groaning. Thursday 6am he was moved out of ICU as they needed his bed. Between then and 2pm his medical chart was "lost". He then suffered a stroke and despite the fact he should have been checked on every hour because of the "lost" records we don't know how often he was checked but the doctor on duty said that with how much of his brain was now damaged (82%) he would judge no one noticed for at least 5 hours. Toxicology reports that the doctor insisted on also shown he was NOT given medication he should have been to prevent this happening.

He was then moved to HDU for a week before finally being moved to a neurological ward for the next 7 months and the treatment was absolutely disgusting. I'll put some point below because it would take too long to put it all down.

He had his arms strapped down to the bed for his own safety apparently despite being told he couldnt move his shoulders more than 5% of a normal person and he could only bend at the elbow 30% and had no means of grip in his hands. After a week of this we finally got a doctor to tell the nurses to stop it as there was no danger to him and it would only infuriate someoen who already had neurological problems as he wouldnt be able to understand why he can't move.

Being given laxtaives for 3 weeks while suffering from terrible diahorrea. His weight plummeted from 14 stone to 8 before my mum snatched the medicine chart out of the nurses hand who refued to show her, depsite us as family being allowed to see, and asked why she was giving him laxatives and she said, "well I didnt know it would make him worse".

Caught pneumonia SIX times! One of the times the nurse on duty said, not knowing I was there, "hopefully this time it'll kill him I'm getting pissed off looking after him".

Depsite there being only 12 patients and 9 nurses the ward was filthy and in the my family and the other patients drew up a rota between us of who will bring cleaning equipment and every day one of us would scrub the floors, beds and walls. We also helped each other change bedding and patients clothing as the nurses said they didnt have resources depsite 9 of them sitting watching us do thier work. There was an old man who had no family and the smell from him was unreal and he had the same soiled clothing on for so long they had mould growing on them. When we asked we were told they nothign spare for him so we all brought spares in and they still didn't change him so in the end this poor man had to be changed and washed by strangers.

When my dad was being "washed" they yanked the sheets from under him and he banged his head on the metal rails at the side of his bed. When i complained the nurse said, "it's not like he knows or can feel it". The other one fell about laughing.

Whilst me and my brother were changing my dad two nurses came over to us. We thought they were coming to help, instead they asked if we wanted to go out with them on saturday, go back to theirs and have a foursome. They also regularly spoke about some of there sexual expolits and when someones family complained they were told to stop beign such a prude.

His feeding tube was ripped out by a nurse and wasn't reported until it was time to hook it up twelve hours later. He had to go back down to theatre to have it put back in and we were told it highily likely he wouldn't come round from the anesthetic. None of them admitted doing it. Thats how we spent his 50th birthday.

Despite it being on his care plan pillows were never put between his knees. This resulted in sores so bad you could see through to his kneecaps. The nurses never treated it even though they promised they would so we had to bring our own pads and bandages to treat it.

These are just some examples.

After six weeks of constant sickness my mum had enough and spent £12,000 of her own money taking on the mental health council and finally got clearing to get him home. We were told the sickness was permanant and he wouldnt see out two weeks at home.

Two years later he died peacefully in his own home. He never suffered sickness, diahorrea, bed sores or indignity again. He never got any better but he at least got cared for.

I now suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and need to have my bowel out in march. Luckily I'd seen NHS care at first hand and a year vefore i was diagnosed I started paying for BUPA. I may only be a postman but I make sure i can afford it. Neither me, my girlfriend or my child will never be at the hands of purely the NHS.

I don't care who i offend but I can't support them. My solution, double the nurses pay and half the amount of staff. Keep the best and **** off the shit.

And dont get me started on life insurance companies and banks who refused to honour policies because he couldnt sign documents despite "having no thought capacity, being deaf, blind and dumb and suffering total limb paralysis" asccording to their own doctors.

Thats utterly shocking, I hope that there was an investigation and the guilty parties were struck off. I've just spent a week learning all about the nursing theory behind regularly turning patients who are unable to move, to prevent pressure sores, because if any patient gets a pressure sore, it is total neglect. I feel horrified to be part of the profession who gave this so called "care" to your poor dad.

Got to admit, that did make me laugh.

Mate, that explains everything lol! You just need a badge with that on, you'll be fine :thumbup1:

Oursleves and acouple of other families have tried a couple of times but because of lost records and lack of physical evidnece its very hard. There was one doctor on the ward, a young Egyptian man, who tried to help us said he was told to stop helping or he can't work at the hospital anymore.

Does the hospital have a PALS office? That's a good place to start - and try this link http://www.nhs.uk/choiceintheNHS/Rightsandpledges/complaints/Pages/NHScomplaints.aspx

dt that's absolutely terrible. I thought the way we'd been treated by the NHS in the last year was bad, and it was, but nothing compared to that. That's disgusting.

If you don't want to be horrified and shocked and/or you just don't want to read the rest, don't, but it's pretty horrific too.

Back in December last year, my mother-in-laws husband collapsed in our kitchen, turned out he had a really bad cold and was just weak, but the ambulance took him to hospital, where he sat on a gurney for 4 hours while they found him a cubicle in A&E.

An hour after going into the cubicle, they decided to ship him off to a geriatric ward 20 miles away, where there were no facilities to deal with his defribulator in his chest and no facilities to deal with him if he caught pneumonia, which because he developed flu from the cold, they stuck him in a little room on his own, with no sheets and opened the window, so he caught pneumonia.

3 days after originally going in with a cold, we were called and told he was dying and being shipped back to DRI main hospital in an ambulance, when he arrived he already had a respirator strapped to his face, he was awake, but didn't recognise any of us. We were told his chances were slim, his lungs were collapsing and he was being moved to ICU, to be put into a chemically induced coma.

Before he left the ward to go to ICU, we noticed the left hand side of his face had dropped considerably, I tried to alert a nurse, she didn't care, she came and spoke to him really close to his face, so no one could see, then said he responded, no, he ****ing didn't! He went up to the ICU and a few hours later we were allowed in to see him, after an hour though, we were told by the doctor that he was pulling the plug, no way was he going to survive, no matter how long he was in the coma or what drugs they gave him, he was beyond help. We told the ICU doctor we thought he had stroked in the ward below and the look on his face was that of someone who was about to go and rip some ones throat out, he hadn't been told.

A few months later, we took our then 5 year old son to A&E because we suspected he'd broken his arm, the problem was, we didn't know how. He'd had a couple of falls in the last couple of days, but that morning had ridden his bike to school, although he had complained of arm pain. We explained each incident that COULD have caused it to the doctor in A&E in as much detail as we could. He had an X-Ray and it was confirmed broken, right near the top. The doctor said it was a slightly odd break, but once he had a sling, we could go home.

10 minutes or so later, the doctor comes to the waiting room with a form, he says I need to sign it, because my sons injury was such an odd break and that he had been told by the orthopaedic doctor in A&E to refer us to the childrens ward for Michael to be examined, apparently if any signs of abuse were found, Social Services would be informed. Of course the mention of the dreaded social made us nervous, as they're a bunch of incompetent idiots that cannot do anything else in life but **** up other peoples, but we don't abuse him, so we were confident nothing would be found and we would be able to go home.

When we got to the Childrens ward, after being 'escorted' there by a nurse I might add, they weren't expecting us and had no idea what was going on. This was around 5pm and by 11pm Rose was screaming at a nurse to give Michael something to eat, because they had refused previously, not knowing what was wrong with him and insisted we wait for a doctor to see him. Obviously 6 hours without food for a 5 year old is NOT good though, so we weren't impressed. The doctor finally came along and said that Michaels break would heal fine, and after signing some paperwork could go home. 5 minutes later he came back and said there was a potential 'old injury' on the X-ray, which needed to be investigated, so would we take him back down to X-Ray? This was at 11pm remember on a Friday, we said yeah fine, whatever to get it over with. We go back down there, get an X-Ray, go back to the Childrens ward, ALL the time being 'escorted' by a nurse. The doctor says, no it was just a shadow, you can go home now.

10 minutes later he's changed his mind again, oh there's a meeting tomorrow morning with all the consultants, we'd really like to discuss Michaels injury and would like it if you would stay here over night so that you can attend. WTF? Ok I suppose if it gives us answers. Next morning Rose is in the meeting with the consultants and one of them says "This could not have been accidental, it's a deliberate injury", when I was yelling at the senior consultant about 20 minutes later after Rose told me, he said no, the doctor said it COULD be accidental....... I think I believe Rose at this point.

2 days of hell pass, where we are told we cannot leave the hospital WITH Michael, or we will be arrested and Michael will be taken into care, there was talk of fostering and care homes and all sorts of shit. We insisted Social Services send someone in to clean this all up, because it's ridiculous. They sent the bulldog and it's chewed up wasp, who inflamed the situation further and told us they were going to put a restraining order on us against our son. At which point I was FURIOUS, but controlling myself reasonably well considering I'd just been told my son WAS being taken away and I wouldn't even be allowed to see him! The duty nurse came to me and whispered "If you don't calm down, I'm going to have you barred from the hospital", she didn't realise my mum had overheard her, who physically pulled her out of my way and calmed me down.

On the Monday, Michael was supposed to have a full body X-Ray to check for 'other fractures', I asked the duty nurse that day (A different one) to make sure they didn't forget. She spent the next 2 hours of her precious time on the phone to radiology, who had lost his patient file, didn't know who he was or what he was supposed to be having done, until finally, she got him a slot booked for 2pm, after we'd waited ALL weekend. Michael received no treatment during the entire weekend either by the way.

So, we go down to fracture clinic while the nurse was arguing with radiology and the consultant there asks us how it might have happened etc. etc. etc. There were 5 other people in the room, and I'm POSITIVE they weren't all doctors, but NONE of them were introduced! At the end of our meeting with the consultant, he told us he thought we would be going home today and not to worry. Back up to the childrens ward for 4 hours to wait for this full body X-Ray.

We're dragged into a room full of childrens doctors, who examined Michael naked for the first time and questioned us on why we told the Fracture clinic something different to what we told A&E, we of course replied that we didn't, we told him exactly the same thing. The duty nurse who had spent 2 hours on the phone to radiology it seems, had gone researching and confirmed our story in full. Full body X-Ray is then done, we were told it would take over an hour, the woman doing the X-Rays was SPRINTING around the room to get it done and it was over in 15 minutes.

3 hours after this, around 5pm, a random doctor we've never seen before walks into Michaels room and says "There are no other injuries on your sons X-Ray, your can go home now". That was that, we were allowed to go. We insisted on discharge forms, but no doctor could be found on the ENTIRE floor of the hospital to sign them, so we were told we'd be posted them, we never were. Social Services came to visit us at home the next day to apologise and get the full story so she could investigate, we were promised a letter of apology, stating there was never any case to answer, and a full file of the case notes, both medical and from social services, we never received any of it.

I haven't gone into the countless other things that happened, like one nurse constantly trying to force pain killers on Michael when he clearly said he wasn't in pain, and them waking him up every 4 hours in the night to prove a point, because we'd said "Why are we here, he isn't even getting any treatment, no one is checking on him, etc." They actually wanted us to leave the hospital and leave him in their care, yet they weren't watching him and clearly weren't capable of doing so either. Rose slept in the chair next to his bed every night that weekend, while I came home to feed Ellie and get stuff sorted out at home. I'm also not going into the debarcle that was my father getting a hip operation a few weeks ago, after screaming at doctors for MONTHS to refer him for one and then getting ill and being left to die on a so called 'surgical ward' where if I hadn't yelled at a bunch of people, he probably would have died. THANK **** he is now home safe and getting better.

/EndRant

Alex, those are just shocking. Hugs to you all, must've been horrendous

dt I'm in for the same next year after 12 years of a reversal that never really worked but hopefully the care will be as good as when I first had one done although I got MRSA TWICE!

pmsl, sound's about right

they do so little in the public sector something like this is hard work, they will need a week off lol

Wow - some poor NHS experiences there. I'm extremely sorry to hear that - luckily for me I have never been in their care since I had my tonsils out back in 1983. And that wasn't so bad....

.....But in 1997 Julia was rushed into Wexham Park hospital (near Slough) to have her appendix removed. Whilst she received pretty good treatment, I was appalled at the general conditions on the ward in which she was placed.....

....plus we're extrememly private people and I could not stand the indignity of being on a ward, in full view of the world and its gawping slack jawed buddies. So from that day onward I have ensured the pair of us have private health care; just in case!!

Richard:scared:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I wasn't going to respond to this thread, but having read many of the posts and having heard many opinions (all of which we are entitled to)

I am saying here and now: I was on strike on Wed, I marched through Oxford

Why?

Massive cuts to youth provision

No more youth service, no connexions service, no mentoring service, no face to face counselling, no family intervention to name but a few vital services that have been cut that we have been fighting for.

The government and those in power have seen that we were crushed along the way, and the only thing left to fight for after all our professions and our services were slashed is our pensions

I work incredibly hard... i often work over 50hrs a week, and have worked many longer weeks too.

I work with some of the most vulnerable people in society... young people who have been dealt a pretty crappy hand. Those who have very little chance in life.... kids on drugs, kids who's parents are on drugs, some kids who have been forced into prostitution, some who still cant read and write at the age of 16, 17 and 18, some with serious mental health issues, kids who live on the streets to name but a few.

Many many of my hard working (and admittedly some lazy and not so great) colleagues are now out of work having had their jobs slashed in an attempt to save money and fill the holes in our make believe economy, holes that were created by people who couldn't be further from those working in the public sector.

I myself had to re-apply and had to take a 12% paycut.. all in the name of austerity. I work sodding hard, I deal with a lot of crap, and i get a pretty poor salary. With all this said i feel that i have a right to stand up for my job, for my dying profession, for my colleagues, my service users, and my pension.

And just to clarify, my pension is not just given to me... i pay over £175 a month into said pension, and will be doing this for the next 40 years having paid into it for over 8 years already. 50 years of that = over £100,000 of my own investment into the pension, so surely I have the right to stand up and fight when someone is messing with my future security. Seeing as i will probably never be in a position to own my own home due to my low income, this future security is pretty important to me.

I cannot talk for every public sector worker out there, but i can talk for myself and that is what i have just done.
