/rumble/strange noise

excuse my ignorance,but what are/is AIV's, noise is more like a train in distance rumbling along, it comes from passenger side footwell like just behind ecu unit,cant hear it when moving, only when tickover,louder out side on passenger side from behind wheel area,how do i sort out the AIV's etc, thanks

 

ps,sounds more mechanical than fluid?

The sound/location you describe definitely sounds like the AIV's. Have a look at the following website http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_05.htm (courtesy of AndyP - excellent site!) it will tell you what they are, how to cure the gurgling sound and how to completely disconnect the AIV's.

can aiv's still be heard whilst driving?people keep telling me my prob is aiv's ,but i dont get any noise while my car is stood still, only when its moving?
