Took the Z out last night for the first time in weeks

We bought a Renault Espace a few weeks ago when we decided to break 'The Wasp' because even though I was only driving my son to my mums and back every day, which is just down the road, I was using over £90 a week in fuel in the Z. The Espace hasn't been filled up since the first day we had it, which was 3 weeks ago on Wednesday and the trip computer still reckons there's over 240 miles in the tank, which is awesome.

The down side to this of course, is that the Grey Z hasn't been driven for 3 weeks. Granted, we've had it in bits alongside the yellow one, to transfer things like weather strips, interior, dash, etc. etc. so it hasn't exactly been drivable either.

Last night, with just the driver seat bolted in and no interior in the back of the car (Rear quarters, boot panels, etc.) I decided I needed to drive it, the idle has gone incredibly high since we swapped over the heater matrix from the yellow one (Mine was busted), even when warmed up and it's been making some awful power steering related noises when idling on the drive, I figured a drive might fix these things. I'd also noticed a thin layer of surface rust forming on the discs which needed to be addressed.

I only took it a few miles down the road and back after letting it warm up on the drive, and WOW I'd almost forgotten how tight it is and how fast it is compared to the Espace, lol.

I couldn't properly floor it unfortunately, because it's got the crappy targas off the yellow one on it while Rose repairs and refurbs the grey ones, which is making it VERY noisy from wind, plus with bits floating about like nuts and bolts, waiting for the rest of the interior to go back in, it didn't quite feel solid enough, plus of course, I still have my injector plug problem, where at about 4,500 revs, cylinder 5's plug pops off, lol. Oh yeah, and when I re-fitted the steering wheel, I didn't line it up properly, so need to sort that too.

Really enjoyed the drive though and now we're both trying hard to get it all back together nicely for the ZedWorld bash, after which it's coming off the road for some serious TLC and modifications, Rose will finish the boot build, I'll fix up some more wiring in the engine bay, etc. etc. Looking forward to Saturday now :D

So do you really need to spend all that money on modding the engine. Im more than happy with mine now i have a normal everyday car. you just get use to the power and wanting more.

I drove mine without any dash or carpet in it and it was epic. just like a race car and everything rattled about
