Deffo the closest station, they should also have record of your booking and I'm pretty sure a failure should be trailered home

Wrong on 2 counts there Steve, doesn't have to be closest, just the quickest route to it, you do have to be booked in this is true, but if it fails, you are also allowed to drive it home, via the most direct route. You can then also drive it on the road again, to a garage to have repair work done, specific to the MOT, it MUST be specific to the MOT, the work must be pre-booked and again, you have to take the most direct route, however you do not have to use the closest garage.

I think the reason closest garage isnt specified is just incase you have a specialist motor, i think you would get away with driving it to zed world as it specialises in the 300zx only, im sure police would understand that not all car places know about a rare car such as the 300zx.

Im sure Mr posh git with his lambo isnt going to drive it to the bodge it and scarper garage just because its closest to get it MOTed lol

I shall phone again tomorrow and see if they can squeeze it in. I know it needs 2 front tyres but that's all in hand.

try a local kwik fit they do a drive in mot service so no need to book, surely there is at least 1 garage with a slot between now and friday.

From what I'm told, that is one of the main reasons, as well as freedom of choice, if you're forced to use the closest garage, your freedom of choice is removed, which is against your civil rights.

Emmisions lol ;-)

Emissions? It's a SWB, which means it's a JDM, which means it's not subject to a proper emissions test anyway :sailor:

I stand corrected.... the quickest route? lol depends on how heavy the right foot is :)

lol yeah slipped up there, it's 'most direct'. I think they deliberately didn't put 'quickest' because that's technically a viable excuse for speeding "Officer, I was taking the quickest route to the MOT station as the law states" :D

Love it. Good to see you back bud.

thanks matey, good to be back, was doing my head in with out internet, but big thanks to me mum for sorting it out for a while at least :)

Gice thames valley mots a call, Speak to Dave, he is the one who is the owner of the red Lyon, should sort you out

I get all my mot's done by the same guy. He is fully booked unfortunately, my fault for forgetting

Might seem a bit precious but don't feel comfortable handing my keys over to just anyone. A lot of garages/mot testers out there who might want to 'see what it goes like' if you know what I mean.

You're a star Pabs. Been thinking of going oem anyhow. You thought about selling them?

legally has to be your closest MOT station fella

No it doesn't! No law as i've reviewed it. Must have an appointment, but iif the appointment is in John o' Groats and you live in Lands end it's legal...Most people don't do what we're talking about though! I've been in a similar situation and asked a 'local' garage to book me in when i've been away from home in an un-MOT'd car and realised it's run out..

Daffy you can trust dave! His ex is over 1000bhp so won't be doing any test drives

Yeah I know. Where is he based mate. Running out of time to sort it, i'm well busy at work at the mo.

ask Jeff to book it in, He might do it just for this meet

LOL Think that might be taking the mick a little. It's due to go back to Jeff for some other work. I just totally forgot about the mot. Only realised as I was going through some paperwork.
