Well what a day I have had and OMG!!!!!! how much I love the zed, I cannot believe I was thinking of selling it.

The zed had been pissing me off for some time now. Under any boost it was popping and banging and basically I had no power what so ever, but off boost she was as sweet as a nut, but I was only getting about 9mpg :(

This happened ever since the new chip went in and 550injectors.

So I was thinking of selling but it looked just so dam good and everything out there looks :xxx: so I was going to pop in the std injectors and be happy again.

But then I was like no, I am going to get this fookin thing running right if it kills me. Browsing the net and other forums some guys had had the same faults and it turned out to be the gaps in the sparkplugs were wrong as well as the heat rating.

I was like can a simple sparkplug cause so much trouble?? the gap of stock is 1.1mm and with the new plug it should be 0.8mm which is nothing,

Anyway I bought some new NGK Iridium IV heat rated 7 for £50 and fitted them this moring. Straight away I noticed it was running smoother.

So jumped in and off to town to put some petrol in. So put £45 in and off i went for a little spin. Well the car was driving AMAZING!!! no hesitation what so ever. A little spin turned into a 4 and a bit hours around Snowdonia and a total of about 135ish miles and I have got between 21 and 24mpg wft!!!

As some will know it's tight twisty lanes mostly 3rd/4th gear then some fantastic new nice smooth sweeping roads, also rapidly got rid of the new impreza hatch back, the guy looked over and his face said it all " you cannot possibley overtake me" well i did and i was gone

Only seen about 30 cars over all those miles, so what a day it is and I love my baby again

I will pop some pics up of a dirty zed today.

So after all that in the end I was going to sell the zed because of a couple of spark plugs

Bit of a long winded boring thread but im chuffed to bits. Only taken about a year and a half!!!

End

Not boring at all, I was really quite down to find out you didn't love your car anymore when I joined this site, so I'm over the moon that you've fallen in love with it again. Such a gorgeous Z and I couldn't for the life of me understand why it didn't thrill you, now I get it, congratulations bud! Very happy for you!

Interesting read and I can only imagine your joy :thumbup1:

I have some heat range 8 to go in mine, all your thoughts/comments noted and gratefully received for when i do

Yeah its my baby again lol!!!! I actully bought a new car 3 weeks back so i didnt have to drive the zed lol!!!

I can turn the boost back up now and have some real fun:devil2: Might even splash out and buy some really expensive tyres now.

The main thing is 9mpg to 21/24mpg is just amazing from a spark plug. I would never of thought that in a million years.

Cool im glad you like the thread, i think its the longest one i have ever done lol!!

With the heatrange it depends on what mods you have because you can run to cold, If your running over 100bhp more than stock you should be ok :)

b0ll0x - does that mean we are still stuck with you then??:cursing::cursing::cursing:

You'd be surprised what a good spark plug can do for a car. I've sworn by NGK Iridiums for years now, I'd already put them in my Z when someone told me not to, because apparently the Z doesn't like them, but mine perform brilliantly, that said, I can't put ANY fuel in it that isn't optimax/VPower, because it doesn't run right. Even the new Tesco 99' doesn't run right

Yeah im affaid so, for a good few years i should imagen :pint:

I will have had mine 10 years in Feb!! Still cant bear to get rid!!!

yeah same here with the fuel but we only have BP Ultimate bown here.

I had the NGK Iridium ones in but it was the stock gap of 1.1 and heat rated 6 so it is obviously asking to much from them,

Also what i noticed when i got home that my exhaust tips were really cool where as before i could hardly touch them they were so hot!!!!

Had mine comming upto 5 years now so still got a long way to go, but its the longest i have ever had a car.
