After 2 years on contract my iphone 3Gs is up for renewal. It's taken ages to decide what to get but found:

- iPhone 4S was not the iPhone 5 everyone was expecting so i'm out

- Galaxy Nexus was perfect until i found out it didn't have expandable memory, the amoled display was an inferior design and the gorilla glass wasn't actually gorilla glass. That said it's a lovely phone if you don't want to chuck a load of music/video on

- HTC Rezound, i was really disappointed to find out that this wasn't being released in the uk as it's not quad band :(

So that left the Galaxy Note which i was worried would be too large to carry round as a phone but after finally finding somewhere that had one to try i thought it was fantastic. Lovely supersharp 1280 x 800 resolution 5.3" Super Amoled Plus display, 16gb on board and 32gb card and a huge battery. And most importantly for me an 8 megapixel camera and 1080p video recorder!

Just awaiting the courier but should be here in the next hour:

Finally a proper web browser that does flash! :hyper:

Still waiting for the number to port over so i can use it as a phone but overall pretty impressed - the display is stunning, battery life is good for the size of the phone. I'll see how it does over the next few weeks.

The app store is better than apple in some ways, lots more free apps and alot more interesting utilities for people in the it industry. Dev software is free to develop with from android.

As a music player the sound is crisp and clear and there's loads of eq settings and staging setting you can fiddle with.

The size is a funny one, it's not too big but holding it in my hand is still taking some used to and using as a phone took me a little while to realise where my ear should be lol

I'd give it a 9/10 :D

Looks like a nice unit but it just looks too big to go into your pocket on a night out :(

You'd be suprised - it fits in my jeans and trousers and no issue at all in my suit jack pocket.

Top pocket of a shirt you'll find the top pokes out but it's not that huge although it's massive compared to the iphone 3gs i had before! :)

I looked at that, i must admit it's a nice phone but from what i've read the screen's a bit green on the whites and i wanted a good screen this time but it was close between the two - it's a lovely bit of kit :)
