I managed to sell my Vitara today for £400, It had no MOT or tax, it has been SORN for two years as it has been used to pull my boat fron the water at the water ski club. The car has never left the site which is private land since the day the sorn went on.

The guy came to see the Vitara knowing it han no tax or MOT and I stated it was sorn, He bought the car and paid me £400 in cash, we were both happy with the deal. I sugested he trailered it home but he insisted he would drive it back. I reiterated the situatin regarding the MOT, tax and sorn, I then sugested he left it on site and he could pick it up any time up untill december31st. He said no and duley took it away leaving his other vehical at the ski club as he said he would be about ten miniutes.

Half hour has passed and I get a phone call expecting him to be waiting to get int the locked gates of the ski club. Needless to say he was ringing to say he had been stopped by an unmarked police car and waiting for the lorry to arive to take the Vitara to the pound and he was reported for no tax mot or insurance, and driving a sorn vehical on the public highway.

SO IF YOU BUY A NEW CAR!!!!! do not risk "just" driving it home unless fully insured taxed and motd.

I hope this never happens in this club to anyone, as you may not get your car back!!

Be Warned by this incedent!!

Thanks

Allan

Probably a good thing they took it off him Al,that sort of arse wouldn't register it and you would get all his speeding/parking tickets!:sweatdrop:

He should of booked in for a mot before driving it away. Mot and tax and sorn wouldnt of been of any issue then.

No sympathy for the guy, he knew the risks and is now gonna pay the price for it.

Well done to you for your very kind gesture of choices you gave him. Bet he wished he had been more sensible now.

The V5 was compleated before he left, he was quite a genuine bloke really but he should have left it and aranged insurance and a booked mot, or as I told him pick it up when he had a trailer or something. He could have towed it, as the towed vehical is deemed a trailer.

I have sent the V5 to DVLA but photo copyed it just in case

Good man!-we still get tickets at work for a Van written off over a year ago!

Well its his fault 100%. he knew it wasnt taxed and tested, he clearly didnt have insurance to cover it. Plus with the ever growing amount of ANPR cameras, it would have glowed up like a really bright glow thing.

Now he will get booked up for no tax, no mot and no insurance, minimum 6 points on licence. even if he admits it.

Good you got the V5 filled in first.

Tut tut, the shame of it !

Owning a Vitara !!

Just kiddin mate !:tt2:

Rules are rules and all that, he took the chance and was caught ?

Alan..........

got what he deserved I'm afraid. Never worth the risk, got forbid he had an accident and seriously hurt someone :(

Couldn't agree more, Vijay.

This tale has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Law breaker gets caught - happy days. Right, only another 2 million vehicles to catch, boys in blue best get cracking..

Got to say it has been a great car for the money, it was my ex partners, the 4x4 capability is amazing. pulled a 1.5 ton boat out of the water with no boat assistance in low ratio 4 wheel drive. It amazed everone at the ski club who had land rovers and land cruser's and only cost me £350 LOL so £50 profit :0)

Ta da!!!!
